Payment information before bidding?
Noticed that within the last week (approx. 8/10/23), payment information is to be entered before bidding on items. Why the change? What happens to that information if I am not the highest bidder? Personally, I will stop using Ebay if this practice continues. I am trying to protect identity and entering payment information every time that a bid is placed is not a good practice. I also do not keep any payment information on my account to avoid possible issues.

·2 years agoIn the payment options tab, there is a way to assign a specific payment method for selling costs, and seller payouts, but from the buyer perspective, it looks like they removed the option of default assignment. However if I'm bidding on something it will not ask me how I'm paying every single bid. It will do that when I need to pay. Before I send an offer, it will ask me to confirm how to pay only the first time and then it will remember. You will see this listed in your purchase history.
This change came about in response to sellers complaints of bidders not paying for their items.
Currently this change is directed at a random group of buyers. This change also includes Best Offer.
However, sellers can opt out of this if they choose to.
If you come across this you can always ask the seller if you could be placed on their exemption list., but understand they may not comply with your request.
