Overseas sellers may have brought ebay's reputation down as far bei misleading, incorrect, or false
Was a seller, and probably will again, but have been with ebay sense we used to send checks by mail with each other! But this year and a good bit of the last has been my worst purchase years I have ever had on ebay. And before I get started, I'm not racial, love all cultures, and have friends of all. But I'm seeing a trend here. Long ago ebay only sold items in the u.s. on certain channels, to search outside the u.s. channel you chose too. Now it seems there is no barrier wall on a search to limit where it's coming from. And, Sometimes the country origin is overlooked, especially if it's a item at page bottom to check out while on a viewed item page. Now, a better marked out of country would help this great! Bigger problem! The (not racial, but the way it is and only issues I have had in 2 years!) Asian community! Mostly business conducted overseas, but 50-65% shipped in u.s. by ?. The descriptions vaguely match item, often the description is about 50% correct. The items being sold, the picture/s may match what's being sold but very iffy. Case in point, listing just purchased a couple of months ago but a easy one that goes on constantly ( sale was for a picture of a set/2 of retrofitting led headlights for older 80's trucks. Title said "5x7 led headlights". Description gave a light description copied from a manufacturer and details just said same as title. Was 17.?? I purchased. It arrived, one light showed up! This same scenario has happened over 15 times in 12 months that I worked through instead of dragging ebay in to help most of the time other than a couple because more or less ITS A SCAM! and that's what most of the community is. To try and get out (and the get your part or get your money back this process takes persistence, time, and getting mean! They will offer 20%, then 40%, 60%, etc refund to try and buy their way out of a rip off. So this goes on constantly, if it's happened to just about every other purchase I've made, it must go on in quantity! Another new trait of the Asian community is to post a fairly short shipping time 3-5 days. Then once purchase is made it changes to over a month! Done just to get the sale! When asked why, it's excuse after excuse! The other reason there is so much misrepresentation, false, and misleading in the Asian sellers is: no one ever touches one product they are selling! It's sold on a screen, the actual seller/shipper may have even given incorrect info on it and it's just sent to someone completely unknown. Plus the language barrier between Chinese and English prevents good descriptions on certain items. Having done messages with several I couldn't understand a few. But to get all this right, and as smooth and easy and as no problems as this used to be, maybe it's time to start putting some heavier guidelines on these boys outside the u.s. and say :"get your descriptions right, your information right, your product pictures right and sell it correct and legit, or your gone!" Maybe that will clean up their act, because ebay isn't China! AND THIS WILL BLOW YOUR MIND! I have had 2 calls from China asking to lift bad feedback! HOW DID SOMEONE IN CHINA GET MY CELL NUMBER THAT I BOUGHT FROM ON EBAY! I know ebay these guys put a lot of green in the pocket! But to what price!! I boycott Amazon! But if this bad Asian seller problem gets any worse where will I buy? I can't keep going through a fight every time something shows up at the doorstep. I'm in a fight now over power tool batteries that didn't show up in a package. And yse it's very Asian! Other u.s. seller things showed up fast without one problem. Just tired of hearing "dear friend" while I'm being patronized as they try to talk out of their mistake or mislead. It has to stop! It was based on good faith before it can again, and can't have good faith when your being sold 2 but only get 1. Thanks, no bad feelings it's just how the term shanghaied was made. Falsehoods and trickery, from Shanghai, in China. A world know quote.Â

Although Ebay appears not to be sufficiently concerned about being viewed in a more favorable light at present , ebay may someday undertake to better address certain issues & thereby foster a more favorable public perception.

First off, when posting long topics on any site, paragraph breaks make them easier to read.
Â
Starting in about 2010 ebay started opening up to China based sellers and encouraged many to register in this country and helped them to find warehouse space. In 2012 they opened the flood gates to chinese sellers who may have registered in the U.S. but drop shipped from China, or who only kept a small portion of their stock here.
Â
In looking over your feedback profile, it seems you do not look at seller's feedback profiles, before buying from them, or you look but keep trusting China based sellers who have way too many negative and neutral feedback. Below are a few things I look for to avoid buying from chinese sellers, especially the ones who claim to have U.S. stock. On a sellers feedback profile page click on the numbers of negative and neutral feedback they have received to read only those comments.Â
I wouldn't buy any auto part from a China based seller PERIOD. Their tolerances are way off, they use low quality metals and other materials in their parts. Most here will tell you not to buy from high volume sellers who have less than a 98.6% rating. I won't buy from high volume sellers with less than a 99% rating, especially if they are located in China, or have feedback that indicates they ship from there.

It may take a little time to use the above lists, but in the long run can save time and possibly money. It becomes second nature after awhile.

Have you bothered reading the terms of ebay's Money Back Guarantee? You do not need to contact a seller if something is wrong with an order, you file the appropriate dispute. This isn't the old days where opening a dispute hurt a seller. If you open one and they promptly resolve the situation, they do not get a defect on their account. If a seller gives an item location in the U.S. but ships from China you can file a not as described dispute.

Â
When you open a dispute, the seller will have 3 days to reply and send a return shipping label. If they do not reply or say they cannot purchase a shipping label, on day 4 you ask ebay to step in. ebay will cover the cost or send you a return label. If after you open a dispute the seller contacts you through ebay messages with excuses or asking you close the dispute to contact them. You ask ebay to step in on day 4.
