Ordered a cape, got a skirt, sent it back, only got partial refund, out 20 bucks.
I contacted the seller and explained to them they'd made an error thinking it was a shawl. Well, it wasn't a suede shawl, it was a wrap skirt with the ties clipped off. So I opened a refund and she only provided me with a partial refund.
Packaged weight was 14 oz, shipping back to her cost me 6.25 which I had to pay for. Shipping to me was around 13 bucks, was posted as ground shipping.
Contacted eBay and they said, "Well, you didn't open a INAD, you selected "doesn't fit" so therefore you are out of luck.
Contacted seller and asked her if she would review this and provide me with a full refund in which she responded by calling me a brat toll. (use your imagination).
Contacted eBay and said I didn't appreciate her swearing at me in messages, they said they'd look into it, and after reviewing it, said, "Thanks for letting us know, we take this seriously but cannot divulge the follow up on this."
Okay, great - so in my case the lady has the product, my cash, gets to call me vulgar names and we just call it a day?
There's no more escalating of it, I paid by ebay funds, not a CC or I'd be looking down that street.
In the beginning I felt that it was right to let her know that there is a visual similarity between a cape and a skirt, and get how she could have made the mistake, and suggested she reformat the listing with measurements.
Now I'm just plain sassy & ticked off, and I'm not buying off eBay again until things are right.
Any thoughts? Or have I just turned into a poshmarkmercaridepop buyer for good? I take such good care of my buyers and have never been treated this way on eBay ever.
I take really good care of records too, so I absolutely see where she made money on shipping like a fool, but there's that tax bit there too which she kept which is beyond morally wrong.
My cash out on this transaction was 40.45 all in.
My cash back was 20.25
The difference is 20.02 of missing money on a misrepresented item.

Unless you made a typo, I wouldn’t consider being called a ‘brat toll’ a compliment … but neither would I consider it swearing or vulgar. I would think the buyer meant brat troll, which would be in keeping with your offering the buyer a lengthy explanation for why they may have mistaken a skirt for a cape. JMHO
As for your not being given a full refund: Sadly, many of us have been fooled by the ‘Doesn’t fit’ distinction. It’s a mistake we only make once. Please let it go. It’s not worth another iota of your valuable time or emotional wellbeing. 🙂

·2 years agoIf the item wasn't as the seller described, why did you choose Didn't Fit as the reason for the return?

·2 years agoI honestly have never understood why ebay has always considered "doesn't fit" as a remorse return.
It seems a lot of buyers get shafted by this, as it's not clear that "doesn't fit because it was wrong size/item sent" isn't covered as a SNAD by "doesn't fit".

·2 years agoHad you opened the correct return case you would have received all your money back.
Opening a return as "doesnt fit" is a remorse return.
You should have opened a "not as described."
The seller didnt keep the tax because the seller never had it.
No one can make you shop anywhere but you shouldnt blame eBay as a whole for you filing the wrong case.
The seller refunded as per the case you filed.
