Order Case Appealed but Taking Longer than 48 Hours, Automated System ZERO Help, HELP!
Summary: wtmbnewton1 is experiencing trouble with a purchase from an online platform, eBay. They bought an item for over $400 that wasn't delivered to them, with the case first being closed because it was marked as delivered. However, they discovered that the item was shipped to an incorrect address and provided this information in an appeal to eBay, which has not been resolved despite a promise of response within 48 hours. Other participants, including jonathanbrightlight, mudshark61369, and tobaccocardyahoo, have suggested filing a chargeback with the credit card issuer as an effective solution, even though this would close the eBay case. wtmbnewton1 appreciates the advice and notes the challenges of this situation, learning from this experience.
Hello,
I submitted a case to eBay for an item that I did not receive to get a refund. I did not receive the item but the seller listed it as delivered and therefore the original case was closed. I submitted an appeal, but it's been over two weeks and have not heard back from eBay even though ebay said they should reach out to me within 48 hours. For the appeal, I reached out to the post office and they stated the item was shipped to a different address, and the packaging did not fit the dimensions of the listing on eBay. They provided tracking details with the different address and a picture of the parcel, which I included in the appeal. When I call or chat with the automated system it says that my case is closed and that I can't appeal. However, when I click on the purchase history of the item, I can see the case appeal details and that it is not closed. I'm not sure what to do. This item was over 400 dollars. I feel like I got scammed by a loophole. Is there a way for me to reach an actual agent who can look at this case? Any community help is appreciated! Hopefully eBay will help my appeal. Thank you!

·2 months agoThe fake tracking scam is well known and most easily remedied with a chargeback dispute with your credit card issuer.
Call the number on the back of your card.

"I did not receive the item but the seller listed it as delivered and therefore the original case was closed".
First off the seller did not list the item as delivered the USPS did that.
" For the appeal, I reached out to the post office and they stated the item was shipped to a different address, and the packaging did not fit the dimensions of the listing on eBay. They provided tracking details with the different address and a picture of the parcel, which I included in the appeal".
If you were sent an email from the USPS, ebay will not accept that as proof, because emails can be faked and ebay's reps cannot reach out to verify them. Chances are that the appeal has been closed so now your only recourse may be to reach out to your credit card provider if you used one for the payment. Doing that will close your appeal.
Call the customer service number on the back of your card, explain what happened tracking shows delivered but not to your address, then tell them you have an email to back that up and ask how you can provide the info to file a charge back case.
For future reference, do not buy items from seller's who have (0) after their username, until you have more experience buying on this site. Especially, if they are based in China where most of the fake tracking scams originate. Actually try to avoid buying from China based sellers at all.
Often the U.S. based (0) feedback sellers are honest, but they do not know about the 21-30 day hold ebay places on their first several sale's payments so they don't ship or respond to messages.
The price you paid for that item was about 20% less than the trending price for them, which should have been a red flag, and there should have been a notice on the listing saying there would be custom's or tariff fees if it was shipping from China.

OP2 months ago · EditedI saw the red flags and figured I could get a refund if it turned out to be a scam. The post office called, left a VM, and mailed me documents showing proof of incorrect delivery address. eBay has not closed the appeal request so maybe they're still working on it. Thank you for responding. I paid through PayPal and they said I can't dispute with them until after Nov if eBay still can't resolve. This is a tough lesson to learn.

·2 months agoIf it’s been over 2 weeks with no info, I’d probably call my credit card company or bank and file a chargeback. Note that will certainly close your eBay case, but I don’t know if you really have evidence it’s actually still being decided.
