NOT happy with new feedback process.
I want to offer feedback for SELLERS... not the product. That should be an entirely separate add-on to the review. The fact that I'm purchasing the product should be sufficient enough 'feedback'.
Have LONG been disenchanted with e-bay's 'token' dispute process, as well as any of their 'guarantees', and am extremely cautious now about the few purchases I do make there. But this is just one more instance of e-bay having (for whatever reason) to "Fix Things Until They're Broken".

Just to expand on what you put out, if you review this screen shot:
There are two optional fields that will show up. The first one has the condition, shipping cost and shipping time like they used to have. But this only shows up during the first 2 weeks I think. Older ones I have no longer show that optional field. Then the second optional is about the item itself.
But as you said and I have said earlier, whatever is entered here shows up in the same place for the seller's feedback. Even though they call the fields something else. Which frankly is a method I think they employed to make it appear harder to leave negative feedback directly for a seller, even though you can regardless.

Enter your feedback comment about the transaction into the field that says "Tell us more about this item" where the text says "share your feedback here". Any valid comment you enter there will wind up on the seller's feedback page, just like it used to.
The star rating for the product, if it appears, is entirely optional. You can leave feedback for the seller without rating the product now.

And with that statement, therein lies the problem.
That way of thinking doesn't address the issue, that being able to leave proper feedback to correct places.
Instead, that's pretty much ignoring it, or saying its not your problem. But thank you for your insightful, and forward thinking post. Its appreciated!

·1 year agoThe issue is that system is completely broken and has been mostly vestigial since the dawn of the MBG.
Feedback is elective, do it or don't do it. The MBG covers all buyers unless they are opted out. The only at risk is time when anyone buys.

The really dumb part about all this. All the options are technically still there. The feedback you leave still shows up in the same place as it does with the classic version that @mudshark61369 linked.
What eBay has done is make it appear to be more difficult to leave feedback about the seller I think in an attempt to disguise or discourage negative feedback for sellers.
I completely agree though, it needs the seller feedback as a prominent feature and optional feedback regarding the item itself. Not the way it is currently.

·1 year agoAs for the Money Back Guarantee (MBG) it works very well for those who have read and follow its policies and time frames, for the most part. You can ask our help if you have an issue with using the MBG, However,
If you have not read the MBG terms and time frames, on any listing page you will find a link to them under the icons for the payment methods .
Just click on the Learn More button.

OP1 year agoBlah blah blah .. I had SEVERAL back and forth conversations with AI bots at e-bay until I finally reached a person whose first language was not mine. All they knew was that "The Item Was Delivered". And that's all that mattered. The fact that it arrived a couple of months later than expected... and that I provided a detailed, documented timeline of our communication.. and that the seller CHANGED HIS CHANNEL NAME in the process .. didn't matter one whit.
And those reading should also note that you chose NOT to address the new feedback process.

·1 year agoHi @basemiller
That’s not quite accurate. You were told how to AVOID the new process you don’t like. What exactly do you want addressed?
Many eBay buyers over the years confused ‘rating the item’ with ‘rating the transaction’ … so eBay tried to end the confusion by having two ratings. [I must be using Classic view, since I’m not being asked to rate the item. There are good reasons for not rating the item at the same time as the transaction.]
BTW, I have read eBay’s Money Back Guarantee carefully … and regularly read Community posts to pick up useful information. I haven’t needed to contact eBay’s Customer Service in over 15 years. eBay’s automated processes work just fine in solving 99% of any buyer’s problems … and let us happily avoid having to speak to any living or AI agents.

·1 year agoThen read it again @basemiller. It’s a totally accurate description of my buying experience.
We buyers have been given all the AI tools we need to solve whatever problem a seller can create for us … without our having to contact an eBay agent. [That is NOT so true for sellers, however.]
Have a good day! 😊
