No communication from seller But I'm geting a strike?
I put several items from a seller into my cart. It did not combine or reduce shipping. It should not cost $10 to ship 5 trading cards. So I chose the option for "request combined shipping." Apparently this commits you to the sale and gives you 4 days to pay. But the seller never responded. But they have the ability to give me 5 strikes for not paying for these cards. So now I have to pay the high shipping? Is this real? How did eBay allow this to happen? What recourse do I have?
PS: I notices that out of 100,000+ feedback, the seller has over 2000 negatives for the same exact reason. And yes I know I need to be more careful with who I do business with. Lesson learned.

·6 months agoSome sellers will refund the buyer from any combined shipping discount after the purchase.
I have sellers who refund the extra shipping charge without even asking after I made purchases.
You can kindly request a refund on shipping charge...may not always get it...'these cards'...sellers like me would want you as a 'repeat buyer' and would refund the overcharge of shipping.

Don't agree to terms you don't like.

·6 months agoCombining shipping is not mandatory and some sellers can't or won't do it. That is something to find out BEFORE you buy.

·6 months agoWell actually here is the lesson make sure you contact the seller first and talk with them about the cost of shipping up front before you commit to a transaction. Sellers do not have to reply to any message. If the seller doesn't respond to your initial message then do not buy or commit to that seller.

And this is HOW I would contact the seller:
“I am interested in purchasing the following items: (List the 5 Item Numbers). What would be the cost of shipping them to ZIP Code _____?”
Only after receiving a satisfactory reply should you take any action towards purchasing an item.

Ok you contacted them and they didn't reply which was after the fact. So in the future do not buy from sellers if they do not respond. There could be multiple reasons why they wouldn't respond but the fact is you as a buyer need information so they need to reply first before commitment. As stated they don't have to reply to you.

·6 months agoThere's a message that pops up when you hit the request total link that lets you know you're committing to the purchase.
Sellers are not required to combine shipping; always best to ask before committing to the purchase.
You may get 5 strikes, but essentially it will only count as 1 strike. It's similar to the way feedback works where you can buy 5 items in an order, leave feedback for all 5 items, but the seller's feedback count goes up by only 1. My info was confirmed by one of the eBay reps on this board a while back.
One unpaid strike won't kill your account so I wouldn't stress over it. Just learn from the experience and move on - and don't shop with that seller if you don't like their practices.

·6 months agoOK so then you contact them and say, "Hi. I want to purchase the 5 listings in the attached screenshot. Can you tell me what the combined shipping rate will be before I commit to purchase and request a combined invoice through the cart?"
What if the seller sent you a combined invoice for 5c off that $10 - you really have no idea what combined means to them, and because some sellers of lower value cards rely on ship cost instead of item cost for profits 🙄, you don't know how they'll handle combined shipping unless you ask. Other sellers think combined shipping means putting items in the same package without discounting ship cost.
In short: Many sellers are awesome. Some are not. Ask before you commit to buy.

If you had purchased all these cards separately what would the shipping charge be on each card?

·6 months agoI agree that $10 to ship 5 cards is a lot but seller also doesn't have to give a discount
