New Scam by sellers that eBay refuses to honor buyer protection with
I just had a seller send a relatively high value item to an different address in my same zip code. When the item showed delivered on ebay, and I hadnt received it, I went to my local post office who printed out the detailed tracking showing the item was delivered to a different address than mine.
I filed a claim with ebay stating I didnt receive the item and in fact I had proof it went to someone else. Ebay denied my claim two different times siding with the seller, saying as far as they are concerned it was delivered as they only look at the zip code of delivery and not the street address. They even acknowledged they accepted my proof it was delivered somewhere else, but didnt care as their system just shows the zip code.
This is beyond belief as I proved I never received the item. So now all a seller has to do is ship presumably an empty envelope to anyone in your zip code and ebay will side with them and allow them to scam buyers. Essentially there is no buyer protection for this scam.
Ebay actually advised me to file a claim with my credit card company telling me I should win easily. Too bad they dont honor buyer protection anymore.
Hope this warns everyone. Always buy with a credit card and through paypal is my advice.

·1 year agoI have done a few debit credit card disputes online and won them over a number of years.
I even won my last dispute with a 'buyer' doing it online with my banking debit card.
I guess the trick is being very vague about the dispute online vs. by phone or in person.
Not sure what the trick is though.
I would think a seller would check thoroughly with another seller's feedbacks and recent sales and purchases to get an idea what kind of this seller is.
Did seller have hundreds of feedbacks...was it an older seller or a brand new seller...did seller also purchase items?
Was it such a good deal it was too good to be true...

That is why you lost. There is a record of "delivery" associated with your order, and to the eBay bots it doesn't matter if it is fake. Filing "item not received" will get you nowhere. Initially, it doesn't even matter if the tracking is for a 3 ounce package, when your actual purchase should weigh 30 lbs. It doesn't matter to the eBay bots if the tracking was initiated before you even bought the product.
You need to contact eBay via one of their social media portals. This leads to actual eBay employees that are well versed in this scenario and actually have the authority to help you.
https://www.facebook.com/eBay/ (use the blue message button)
OR direct message through one of these:

Get the idea of "item not received" out of your head, and head and explain you are a victim of a fake tracking scam. The evidence you obtained from the Post Office can be uploaded to them as well.
If you have already gone to your credit card for redress, eBay will no longer be obligated to assist you. However, if you filed "item not received" (INR) the case will be forwarded to eBay who will reply with the same phony/fake delivery confirmation and you stand a good chance of losing again and for good.
There are other options available to you, but NONE of them are going to help if you insist on INR.
Do let us know how it is going, and come back if you have any questions.

·1 year agoFirst, this is FAR from new- been going on for years.
2nd- This is all very typical (when a thief is involved).
So to continue: opening a 'I didn't receive' it is AUTOMATICALLY Denied- as the 'only' proof that a seller has from buyers that say "I didn't get it"...is the tracking, and the system is automated to 'look' at the tracking and see if it was 'delivered'. (Shippers only use Zip Codes and not street address)
So, the thieves have figured out the 'automatic' system hoping that is how you will open a return for that reason.
What you now have to do is get with Reps on Facebook, leave message (brief, no attachment yet), wait (up to 6 hours) for them to have you 'verify' your account (don't close page, they will eventually show and these reps can help you); then you can 'attach' the 'proof' you got from USPS. Then, go from there.
