Need to get a hold of a representative from eBay.
Summary: scmizu_0 expressed frustration about issues with drop shippers selling locked devices on eBay and sought contact with customer service. eburtonlab and kathiec advised using eBay's Money Back Guarantee to return items not as described, but scmizu_0 expressed doubt about eBay's rule enforcement. lady_madonna and others suggested filing a chargeback if necessary and emphasized reading eBay's terms for protection, highlighting that the return process is automated.
Not sure if this the third or fourth time, But apparently drop shippers are allowed to scam their customers on here with locked cellular devices or tablets. I'm asking kindly if I can get someone from eBay customer service to get a hold of me. I have a feeling that the seller themselves will have me pay a fee in order for me to return the device back to them even though it's technically their fault.
Since a lot of these sellers need to be upfront about selling lock devices. Because there's still a balance owed on this Verizon locked tablet.

·1 week agoIt is nearly impossible to get scammed on ebay as a buyer without that buyers direct help.
Go and read the MBG and use it to protect yourself because no one can do it for you.
You don't need anyone at ebay to contact you about it, the process is entirely automated.

·1 week agoThe typical way this scam works is the seller will pay 1 more month on the phone or tablet after it was purchased and received to get the new buyer past eBay's 30 MBG period. My guess this is what happened to you if you are not able to file INAD case...yes? If so, go to your payment/CC/bank to file for a charge back. Charge backs actually hit sellers the hardest

Sorry, but these are member-to-member forums. EBay doesn't monitor them. But if you're within 30 days of receiving the device you're covered by eBay's Money Back Guarantee. All you have to do is open an item not as described return to return the item at the seller's expense. If it's been more than 30 days eBay won't help you no matter whom you talk to. You'll need to dispute the charge with your payment source.

OP1 week agoUnderstandable, but that still doesn't fix the problems cause sometimes eBay doesn't even follow by their own rules.

·1 week agoWhat rules is Ebay not following?
You stated: "drop shippers are allowed to scam their customers"
Ebay does NOT allow sellers to scam buyers, that is why they have a Money Back Guarantee for buyers.

eBay has a money back guarantee for items that are not as described. So if a seller does not disclose that a phone is locked or that a balance is owed, the buyer can return the phone at the seller's expense for a full refund within thirty days.

If the seller does not provide for tracked return shipping, refund the buyer directly or refund once tracking shows the item has been returned to the seller, after three business days, the buyer can ask eBay to step in for up to twenty-one business days from starting the return.
If the buyer waits too long to start a return or to ask eBay to step in, the buyer may still have recourse through the buyer's payment method. Many credit cards offer up to six months of protection for items that are not as described.
