My order is stuck at customs, was overcharged, and getting no help from MailAmericas or eBay!
Hello everyone,
I'm hoping someone in this community can help me or offer some advice. I'm having a huge problem with an eBay order, and it feels like I'm being left in the dark with nowhere to turn.
My order has been stuck at Brazilian customs since June 16th. The tracking says, "Delayed by customs review - WAITING FOR DOCUMENTS - CPF." I immediately contacted MailAmericas, the carrier, and gave them my CPF (a Brazilian ID number) on June 18th. Their only response was, "You don’t need to take any action at this time." It's now weeks later, and the status hasn't changed.
To make matters worse, I was already charged $407.64 for "customs taxes" by MailAmericas back on May 24th, which I paid on May 27th. This amount is absurd—it's more than the product itself ($360.00)!!! I've bought many photos on eBay before and have never been hit with a charge like this, especially not from this carrier. I have no way to contact MailAmericas to find out where this number came from or if I'll get my money back if customs doesn't actually charge this much.
Things got even more confusing on June 23rd when a different company, TotalExpress, contacted me for the same documents. I sent everything to them on the 28th, but the eBay tracking still only shows MailAmericas, and neither company has updated their status since June 16th.
I told the seller about this on June 24th, and they said they'd let eBay know, but I haven't heard anything from eBay. It feels like no one is taking responsibility. Has anyone ever experienced a similar issue with MailAmericas or a package stuck in Brazil? What did you do?
Any help or suggestions on how to get eBay to step in would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Vou esperar o site que comprei me ressarcir. Essa é a experiência que tive. Além disso , vou queimar o filme da mail americas no site da compra.

You mentioned using MailAmericas. Did you have your product shipped to their facility in the Miami area, and then forwarded to you?
Or was your product shipped from the US using eBay International Shipping?
If either method was used, and the product shows "delivered" to either applicable address, your problem is not going to be eBay's problem, nor that of your seller.
Mail Americas has phone numbers and contact information available on the net for your country as well as the US.

·1 year agoI would like to offer you words of support or encouragement but, alas, Brazilian customs is one of the reasons I stopped selling internationally, only to resume when I could ship from the US using Ebay Global Shipping and then EIS.
Between the strict prohibition of some items which are not restricted anywhere else, to the bureaucracy and its unwillingness to give an inch, I decided nothing I sell is worth shipping to Brazil.
You appear to be based in Brazil, so I assume you are trying to source Internationally. I suggest you explore using a well-connected Brazilian Customs Broker to clear your shipments.
