My Honest Negative Feedback Left For Seller Was Removed with No Ebay Policy Violations WHY?

I bought an item from a seller and he shipped the item to me and it was not as listed / pictured. I tried several times to reach the seller and he would not reply. I sent pictures of the items I received to the seller along with what was missing. After my 4th attempt he replied and said he would help. He never helped so I opened a case with Ebay and within the hour he replied and said if I close my complaint he would send me a partial refund " Immediately". I closed the case and he never contacted me again. I opened a new case based on his failure to follow through with his promise to pay, and again he replied within 15 minutes. He then paid and the case was closed.  I conveyed my experience in this transaction in my Negative feedback to help other buyers and it was removed the sellers request. Ebay rates this sell as a.

Top-rated seller: One of eBay's most reputable sellers. Consistently delivers outstanding customer service.  Yet this seller 22 Negative and 13 Neutral in just this month. He has NO customer service. Unbelievable that this guy is endorsed by EBAY.

OP, go to your original funding source to get your refund if you weren't refunded by the seller.

How did you open a second case when you closed the first one?

    Loss of coverage

Even if a transaction is eligible for eBay Money Back Guarantee, buyers can lose protection if they:

    • Voluntarily close a request or case, or

Usually when you close a case you can't open it back up because of this policy like the system won't even allow it to happen.

I called Ebay and let them know the seller fell short of his promise to pay and they allowed me to reopen it.

First of all, in this situation, the buyer is not required to contact the seller or eBay.

That's what the Money Back Guarantee is for.  When the item you receive is not as described, you simply open an item not as described case with eBay.

Secondly, if you closed your case before being refunded, surprising that you did get a refund.

Usually, once you open one case and close it, eBay figures it's done.

Third, since you WERE refunded, eBay reserves the right to delete the FB because evidently they believe this had a successful conclusion.

Before you do further buying, suggest that you read the MBG.

It could be that eBay is very lenient with their rule.

You conveyed your experience. I assume you mentioned the case(s) you opened in your feedback. If I'm not mistaken, that is not allowed, thus the feedback was removed on those grounds.

EBay top rated sellers must meet these requirements:

-They have 100 sales transactions within 12 months

-They have $1000 in sales within 12 months

-Maintain a certain level or higher of seller metrics regarding "Transaction Defects", "Late Shipments", "Cases closed without seller resolution" & "On-time Tracking Uploads w/ Validation".

Although EBay does refer to top rated sellers as providing the best customer service and most trusted sellers (blah blah blah), they are using different metrics than you or I would use.

I read somewhere on this board that fully refunded transactions get feedback removed automatically.

eBay's seller rating system is meant to help buyers identify trustworthy sellers. However, it's not uncommon for some sellers to manipulate the system or have a history of negative feedback despite being designated as "Top-rated sellers." The fact that the seller has received 22 Negative and 13 Neutral feedback in just one month is concerning and should be taken into account by eBay when evaluating their status.

eBay puts Top-Rated Seller on many accounts.

The only way to be sure is to look at the FB before buying.

Some sellers manage to get most Negatives removed. FB is not used to rate sellers by eBay.

So Top-Rated Seller has nothing to do with any FB .

FB is an opinion, and most sellers cannot get buyers opinions removed even if it is false.

@campanaelia is 100% wrong about a sellers market and how to handle it. But opinions dont have to have facts or e true.

eBay usually removes FB on all closed/complete cases.

There is no reason, it's been happening for years. Just be grateful this is the first time its happened to you. Ebay is a sellers market and higher ratings = higher profits at the buyers expense. Next time you see "Top-rated seller: One of eBay's most reputable sellers" run the other way, they often can be the most abusive.

I take offense as do many other top rated sellers.  You can't speak for all of us.  I would never do anything like that and am proud of my status and feedback.  I am by no means a 'high profit' seller for eBay.  Top rated has nothing to do with how many items you sell.  @campanaelia
