Money back guarantee is a scam
I ordered a pitch fork steel grip long handle on 5/28 from seller navodya-99. I contacted the seller several time with no response because I never received the item nor was there a tracking number provided. Once I file a complaint the seller sent me a bogus tracking number and responded with I had received the item. I contacted ups with the tracking number and they confirmed that this number didn’t belong to me and that they hadn’t received anything from the seller for my address. eBay had a guarantee but when I sent in a complaint, they closed the case because the seller sent them this bogus tracking information. If eBay had really looked into the matter they would have found out that the seller was lying. I feel the BBB should look in to the guarantee that eBay states.

OP2 years agoI still say the guarantee is crap.( If the seller doesn’t respond or if they can’t resolve the problem, you may be eligible for moneyback guarantee ,shop with confidence). I tried the link for the appeal. It doesn’t download. It just says (oops. We had a technical hiccup. Try again later). I’ve tried several times still will not let me appeal this problem. There should be a contact number to call if they truly stood behind their Money back guarantee. I know there are sellers on eBay that are legit but with Amazon if you have a problem with a seller, a 1 -800 number takes care of any problem you may have. I am old school, I hate that some corporations are just about the dollar and not about providing good customer service. At my age, i am just one voice, but this has left a bad impression with me. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. Bye eBay! Thank you everyone for listening to me.

·2 years agoI don't think anyone here would argue that ebay is not without its problems.

·2 years agoUnfortunately it's not possible for eBay to "do the legwork". Since they are neither the shipper nor the recipient, carriers won't release any information to them.

·2 years agoAs woodland_gnome stated, it's up to you to do the legwork. It's not a level playing field in these INR cases where fake tracking is concerned. This is probably the one category of ebay dispute where the buyer is guilty until proven innocent, so to speak.

·2 years ago"they closed the case"....There is an estimated date of delivery"...one day after that you can open a claim as item not received. What was the date of delivery? You might have opened it too soon which is why it got closed due to tracking.

·2 years agoIt's the seller who is doing the scam, not eBay.
It is up to you to do the legwork and get proof to eBay that the seller is scamming. eBay will believe the carrier rather than the buyer (or seller). If the online tracking report for the tracking number shows delivery to the same zipcode (5 digit) as what the buyer gave for the shipping address, it will presume it is to that shipping address. That presumption is rebuttable by documentation from the carrier that it was not delivered to that address (the document does not have to give the actual address but merely state it was delivered elsewhere than [your shipping address] since there might be privacy issues). This covers errors by the carrier in mis-delivery (the carrier can tell this by matching the GPS coordinates of the delivery scan with the facts on the ground) and a scamming seller who sends a low value package to another address in your zipcode. See here about appealing the decision if the carrier can document such a problem: https://www.ebay.com/help/buying/returns-refunds/appeal-ebays-decision-return-missing-item-buyers?id=4039&st=12&pos=2&query=Appeal%20eBay%27s%20decision%20about%20a%20return%20or%20missing%20item%20for%20buyers&intent=appeal&docId=HELP1308 Again, eBay is not going to contact the carrier beyond the online tracking and is not going to take your word that the carrier told you it was to somewhere else. YOU need to get documentation from the carrier to eBay. That is not a "scam", that is a reasonable requirement.
