Missing Item
I ordered Flat Free tires from a seller. They sent pneumatic tire (tires with air). The day they came, I immediately contacted the seller. I took pictures of the tires they sent for the seller. They are impossibly slow in their replies. Then, I received another email from ebay saying the tires were sent. I thought great. The seller must have realized their 'mistake' and sent the right noes. I thought I'll send the wrong ones back and I'm good to go. Those never came either. The seller told me to contact fedex, which I did. They told me the mix up on that item was the wrong tracking number. The item associated with that number was; "Delivered to the right person who signed for it." And, that I would need to contact the seller again. Which I did. But I am not sure what the seller is doing, but they are not being helpful at all. I don't know if I was scammed by receiving cheaper tires for the more expensive tires or what, but this is NOT the EBay I knew when it first began. I opened a case with eBay, but the instructions take me into a loop of pages that do not offer the help they said they would give. All I want is the tires I ordered and not the wrong ones. Am I asking too much of eBay these days? I have been with eBay since its inception, and never had any issues, but it seems Ebay is becoming more and more like a cheap flea market. Is there anyone who can offer real help to get this straightened out? It is sad that more people are leaving and buying from Amazon. I didn't want to do that but I may haven o choice.

That is often an indication of the seller being a foreign or China based one. I'll bet the reply sounded like it was written by someone whose first language is not English,
Then, I received another email from ebay saying the tires were sent. I thought great. The seller must have realized their 'mistake' and sent the right noes. I thought I'll send the wrong ones back and I'm good to go. Those never came either".
You did not receive a message from ebay!! The seller sent that message. Have you never read ebay's Money Back Guarantee policy? If you had, you would know what the procedure is when you receive the wrong or a not working item.
The item is returned to the seller at their cost and when they receive it, then they refund or send the correct or replacement item. Think about it, what seller or store would send a buyer a replacement item without first receiving the original shipment back? It doesn't make sense.
" The seller told me to contact fedex, which I did. They told me the mix up on that item was the wrong tracking number. Was the original shipping done using FedEx? If it wasn't why would a seller use a different possibly more expensive shipper to send a replacement item? What they did was to send most likely an envelope to a different address in your zip code. You can call FedEx back and ask what the weight of the return shipped item was. You may also want to ask if you can be sent the photo of the delivery location.
You may be able to see that if you run the tracking number through the FedEx tracking system.
The seller pulled a fake tracking scam with the return label. eBay has a hard time dealing with that because they are not allowed to get label information, address or package type size weight, due to shipper's privacy policies. All they can do is check a tracking number for a delivered scan, and if there is one and the zip code is correct they find in favor of the seller.
You can try contacting ebay through their social media platforms. Those sites are manned by actual ebay employees who know about the fake tracking scam. You will need the ebay item number for the original purchased and the seller's username.
You can write out basically what you wrote at the beginning of the topic up to "I thought great" Add a photo of what you received. Then ask the rep who gets the message to check your ebay messages for the seller's reply and the FedEx tracking number they sent you and the follow up saying they gave you the wrong tracking number. Point out that they did not give you the supposed "correct one".
If the FedEx tracking info has a photo of the delivery location, that is not your address see if you can save it and post it to the message as an attachment. If you can ask the rep to compare the photo to your address on a Google street level map.
Sign the message with your real and ebay username.
There should be enough info for the rep to authorize a refund without you having to return the wrong tires.

Because the fake tracking scam has become very popular with mostly china based sellers check feedback profiles of any seller you intend to buy from. I also suggest signing up to use the free enhanced tracking info from; USPS Informed Delivery, FedEx Delivery Manager & UPS My Choice.
The info in those messages you get from them, can be used if this happens again.

·1 year ago@spooky100 I am tagging you so you can find you're way back to this thread.
Do you understand what to do after reading the replies above?
Return to the order details and open a return case for "does not match listing description".
Seller will be required to pay to get the item(s) back, once they do they will have to refund you.
If they don't, when the case says you can ask eBay to step in, do that.
Do you have any questions bout how to proceed?

·1 year agoThe false tracking number scam is currently extremely widespread.
Ebay has no information provided by carriers to verify where any shipment has been delivered.
You appear to have recourse in your case. An item not as described MBG return request.
If there was a replacement shipped, it probably wasn't and a tracking number was reused.
Buyers need to deal with screwed up orders independent of what a seller claims in a message response. Too many bad sellers will try to run the clock out on the Ebay MBG. My advice will offend many honest sellers. They will be treated unjustifiably poorly. But the alternative is buyers losing money because the carriers are protecting the privacy of crooks.
To further aggravate and annoy, open an MBG claim as soon as you can if a seller tells you to contact FEDEX, UPS or USPS. If the seller cannot handle your problem by contacting them, there is likely to be something shady going on - you are being asked to do part of his job.

·1 year agoIf you can buy the tires you want somewhere else do not re-purchase on ebay, but open a NASD (note as described case right away). Let ebay sort it out, and refund your $$ than purchase your tires elsewhere after receiving your ebay refund!
After my recent poor buying experience here I will not be back.

·1 year agoI have been here for 24 years other ID, and ebay is not the venue it once was. No customer service! One was able to phone CS, but now everything is online. Sometimes I have to ask questions here that CS should be responding to.
NASD (item not as described case). Don't hold your breath as I have a *not received case* and it will take more than 18 days before refunded if then.
I am retired so leaving ebay just finalizing last sales.
LOVE Amazon Prime never had an issue just ordered more from them today NOT ebay.

·1 year agoIf you opened an item not received case for this particular issue, sorry to tell you -- wrong kind of case. eBay will see that you actually DID receive something and will dismiss your case. Wish you would have come here and asked before going forward.
eBay & Amazon = apples & oranges.

·1 year agoDoes this boil down to the fact that you received the wrong item?
If so, you need to open an item not as described case per eBay's Money Back Guarantee for buyers.
DO NOT open an item not received case, because you did receive SOMETHING.
And I sincerely hope you did not return the wrong ones on your own dime.
Perhaps reviewing the Money Back Guarantee might be a good idea for you?
