Missed payment (buyer)
I missed a payment. And may have lost the chance to buy the item, Because I wasn`t checking my emails.
I can not believe eBay does not have an option to be notified,
by text, when a bid is won.
Other than constantly checking my email.
Is there any way I can avoid this happening going forward?
But thanks, eBay, for providing a forum where we can
discuss, without giving personal information.😎

OP2 years agoThanks everyone,
I had been just accessing through a browser.
Which would have been fine back in the day.
When I did everything on a PC.
And all my social was email.
So I have loaded the app, and ran notification tests.
I should be good going forward. Thank you all for your help.

You can receive Texts and/or eMails when you win items or have an offer accepted. Click on the link below to find out how to set that up.
https://www.ebay.com/help/account/account-account-settings/notifications-subscriptions?id=4203
You can also open the app and look at your purchase history, won auctions will show up in it along with a, Awaiting payment reminder.
If you bid on items days before an auction ends and forget that you did that. Why not add the item to your watch list and set it to sort items by Time: ending soonest. If you open the list once a day you will see that an auction is going to end that day, and bid on it. Then check your purchase history later on to see if you won it or not.

·2 years agoI've been on eBay for 25+ years and won hundreds of auctions here. And I've never found it that difficult to keep track of when those auctions were ending and check to see if I won. You have four days to pay for an item. Surely you check your email at least that often.

OP2 years agoThanks kathiec,
There was a time when I would have checked my email regularly.
But these days, all my important interactions are on social media platforms.
None of my friends use email anymore. And my email is loaded with spam and junk.
It`s not unusual for me to go weeks.

·2 years agoLike most people these days, I have a smart phone - like it or not. I get notifications on it for either text or email. The only way I see to avoid your problem is to step up your phone game.

·2 years agoYou know when the auction is set to end, check a few hours after it ends to see if you won.
If you're not already checking your emails, would you check text messages?

OP2 years agoThanks kensgiftshop,
I ran some diagnostics, and it`s possible I had "battery saver" set on my Android. And that could have effected push notifications.
