Misleading item descriptions
What constitutes a misleading item description? I understand some sellers don't know much about what they are selling so make some guesses which may be incorrect. But what if a seller starts an item description with a name of a historical event (a war in this case) and the item and the subject of the item (in this case a plaque with a country's leader) date from many years before? The subject of this item died 26 years before said war and the item has no indication it was made during the war. It seems they are trying to deceive less knowledgeable sellers by starting the description with something that would bring up more more hits than the name of the subject of the item, and hope someone will purchase it with out realizing it has no connection the war.

Have you considered that maybe the seller either made a mistake substituting one war for another, or that maybe their knowledge of history is so poor they did not realize what they had done. What might be better than reporting the item, would be to use the contact seller button and explain what is wrong with the description. I have done that on many occasions, and received Thanks, for pointing out errors.

·1 year agoI saw a misleading misidentified item and the seller ignored my suggestion that the incorrect description needed correction. I complained to ebay and then appealed. No result because they just do not care. The photograph of the item had a description in cyrillic script totally different to what the english item description said. 100% against policy yet apparantlt it is within the policy. Rhey are uaeless.
