Mercari Scams
Hi all,
Regarding buyer protection, specifically on Mercari (also applicable on eBay) what is the process if a scam occurs? I purchased an item for a low price in Mercari, from a large seller, and was sent a box with only a grocery bag in it. I tried reaching out to the seller but was ghosted, and I’ve reached out to Mercari support with no reply. Realistically, what steps are possible to get refunded for this? It’s insane.

I believe you have THREE DAYS to file on Mercari for "item not as described" or they assume all is well. Do not let the timeline expire. They have a form to fill out, and require photos of what you received.

Credit cards are more intolerant of seller scams than internet marketplaces which cannot exist without sellers.

Mercari is in no way connected to eBay. So unless someone here might have had a problem with Mercari, an eBay forum is not the place to ask about Mercari buyer protection.
While it won't help with Mercari you can learn about eBay's buyer protection, called the Money Back Guarantee, here:
