Manufacturing Warranty
Yup, you guessed it! I have never had a problem with a warranty until now...... all these years buying from eBay manufacturers found a way to get out of it..... or did they? I just bought an expensive item last year and this has been ongoing for years and I had no clue about it, but the people selling on eBay did.... no disclaimer from either eBay or the seller! If I had a chance to decide, that would be one thing...... Is Ebay a Black Market?

As others pointed out, unless the seller is an Authorized Reseller for that manufacturer, the warranty is null and void with the transaction here. Same thing happens on Amazon too, if you purchase an item sold by a 3rd party seller there not affiliated with Amazon. Even if Amazon ships the item.
Now.
eBay does offer purchasable warranties when you purchase certain items. Those warranties would be there to cover your item for the length of time you buy them for. I actually noted that one of my laptops I sold the buyer also bought a warranty with it to cover it.
But I also have a warranty disclosure on my listings explaining this very situation. So as a seller, be sure to clearly list your warranty offerings if you have any for items you make/sell, or if you are authorized by the manufacturer of the item you are selling to sell here on eBay to provide a warranty.
As a buyer, if warranty of an item is important be sure to review the seller's listing for their warranty information, and if you have doubt, you can find another seller or purchase an optional warranty that is suggested by eBay to help protect your investment.

"Is Ebay a Black Market?"
No, but it is considered a Gray Market site as are any of the other 3rd party listing sites. The Grey Market is often where sellers obtain items from Over Stock, Store Closing, or superseded item auctions or sales. Those items have been bought by a second party from an authorized dealer, which usually voids the Mfr's. warranty, so it cannot be registered. Superseded items may lose the original Mfr. warranty, once replaced by a new or improved model. The serial numbers of the items sold to a second party by an authorized dealer, are recorded as being sold, to the Mfr.
One of the things ebay did not think about when they came up with their Managed Payments system is, Some brick and Mortar authorized dealer stores, used to be able to accept direct credit card, or PayPal payments from a buyer, who would send the CC or store receipt with the item, as proof of purchase from an A.D. Now that ebay has discontinued that practice, those sellers can no longer send a CC/Store receipt, so no Mfr. warranty.
The example of buying something from Best Buy on another 3rd party site like ebay, posted by @toomuchstuffagain35 is another way Mfr.'s warranties are voided.

·2 years agoMore like a second hand flea-market. The item is considered to be resold and most warranties don't transfer to the next owner. It was covered by the person that bought from a factory dealer but not to the person they sold it to.
Not an issue with used items but when purchasing new it's an issue you have to take into account.

·2 years agoNo, it's not a black market but most manufacturers won't honor a warranty unless bought from an authorized seller or distributor.
What I find NOT okay is when you buy from say Best Buy etc on a venue and they still won't honor it just because it was bought through that store on ebay.
