Lying about shipping location
I’m trying to figure out what to do. I bought something because it said it shipped from New York and it turns out reading the actual reviews the company is based in, and ships, from Canada. Normally I wouldn’t care but I’m not paying tariffs because I was promised one thing and given another. I wanted to go about it peacefully and just cancel the order because it hasn’t been shipped yet but my cancellation was denied by the seller. The automated system isn’t any help because the AI is useless.

·7 months agoIf a tariff is applied to it, you can refuse the package based on seller miss representing the shipping location. eBay does allow for that. Also keep in mind many sellers in Canada located near the New York border will cross into the US to ship...not sure if this is the case or not

·7 months agoIf indeed seller crosses the border and ships from US, good for him/her..if it comes from canada, item not as described and seller pays for return shipping…OP must be creative in response..😈

·7 months agoyeah i get why your annoyed. if the listing said new york but its actully shipping from canada, thats not cool. shipping location matters, esp if your gonna be stuck with tariffs you didnt agree to. since the seller denied the cancel, your best bet is to open an item not as described case with ebay and add screenshots of the listing. ebay usually looks at stuff like this fairly.

Did you look at the shipping section on the listing you bought from. It may say that the tariffs were paid when you made the purchase or it will mention it if you click on the See details button on the shipping line.
If the tariffs have already been paid, and you want to return it. Once you receive the item go to the More actions button for the listing, click on Return item option then select item doesn't match description, and follow through to file the dispute, which will appear on your My ebay page under Returns.
The seller will have 3 days to respond by either sending you a return shipping label or issuing a full refund. If they do neither or try offering a partial refund or anything else, on day four open the dispute and click on the Ask eBay to step in button. They will issue a refund from the seller's account.
In the future check the feedback profile page of any seller you intend to buy from, no matter what their feedback percentage is.

·7 months agoYou are obligated to follow through with the purchase then if the seller declined your cancellation. Yes it is important to review location on the sellers profile before making the purchase.
