looking for vehicle, not parts or toys
Something has been changed on Ebay Motors; I want to see what hearses are available, but I can't get just real vehicles. Getting them but mixed in with floor mats and Johnny Lightning toys. What do I have to do to just see actual hearses??

I just did a search for "Superior Cadillac Hearse" ebay motors which returned 45 results. 2 toys, lots of parts and manuals, but 5 actual hearses. Then I clicked on the Cars & Trucks button and below is the results page. I do have my searches sorted by Time: ending soonest, I NEVER EVER, use Best Match.

Very few Hearses make it on to ebay, so their search engine looks for listings in other categories.
You might have better luck with your searches if you add the name of a hearse/ambulance manufacturer/coach maker to your search. None of the American automakers made hearses they made Commercial Chassis which were then converted to ambulances, hearses, flower cars and stretch limos by custom coach companies like Miller-Meteor (usually referred to as just Miller) and S&S/Superior (Just Superior).
Have you considered searching for Clubs or groups dedicated to collecting Hearses online?
professionalcar.org, heritagecoach.com, Cadillac hearse fan club on FB... etc. Those outlets usually know when hearses come up for sale around the country.

OP2 years agoThanks, but for many years I've selected 'cars and trucks', then just put HEARSE in the search field and all the hearses (like you said, not many) would be shown. Now I do the same thing, but I'm expected to go through 2000 listings of all things hearse related when all I want are the actual hearses.

·2 years agoOne possible way to search: enter hearse into the search field and hit the "search" button. Then change the category to eBay Motors: Cars & Trucks using the links on the left side of the search results page if you are using a desktop browser.

OP2 years agoSame thing happens when I do that, but I found a way: select 'cars and trucks', then go down and click 'sedans', then change sedans to hearse in the field. Every time anything online gets "improved', it usually adds more steps to what one needs to do.

Using the "Find a car or truck" tool seems to work pretty reliably for me, no matter what make, model or year I give it, or even just searching within a radius of a certain location for all vehicles.
You can find the tool by searching eBay using keyword cars or by using this link:

A cool way to transport band instruments? I found one but I don't know if forty grand is in your budget.

OP2 years agoI do have a hearse, a '58 Cadillac, but always looking for an even older one. I've looked on Ebay almost every day for many years, but now I can't just pull up actual real hearses without having to also see hearse parts or hearse toys. Thanks anyway!

You want older? How does a 1940 LaSalle hearse for 20 grand grab you? https://www.carsforsale.com/vehicle/details/103154278 From the pics, it needs a heck of a lot of restoration, so maybe you could negotiate the price down ... for me they'd have to knock off 19 grand, but then I don't really want one.

Actually, the LaSalle looks pretty tight. Most of the issues are with the interior panel coverings, maybe the seat coverings, carpeting, and the paint. The important parts, Glass, Casket track, Tool compartment drawer rear fold down jump seats are there. However, fully restored it could be worth a lot more. But since that thing is about 27ft. long, it would need a custom garage or barn to be parked in.
The nice thing about Hearses is, they weren't often driven over 25 miles an hour when in service.
