Listings saying "leather" when it is PVC!
I would be interested in what buyers think of the policy that SEEMS to allow fraudulent sellers to say their handbags (or other items) are made of "leather" when it actually PVC (like plastic)!!! This infuriates me when I'm looking for something specific made of LEATHER!

·4 years agoI hear you, it is frustrating to be searching for leather and then have a bunch of PVC show in the results. PVC is not leather so sellers who use “leather” to describe it are technically in violation of the keyword spamming policy.
Have encountered it all the time with sellers using “vintage” style when it is not vintage, to attract more eyes to their listings. I’ve noticed many overseas sellers improperly use “vintage” when the item is brand new.
Most anyone can report such violations to eBay, but afraid the problem is so widespread that reporting could be wasted effort. eBay can be inconsistent in its policy enforcement.

In "some" cases it may have been an honest mistake or a easy to happen typo. I list all kinds of assorted items. Difficult to be an expert in every one of them. There was an announcement several years ago that when/if a seller had made an honest mistake they would be given the opportunity to fix whenever that was possible. That announcement was mostly meaningless because it never happened. eBay has made random changes to categories with glitches in the process. When they arrive they are just dropped in place and often the seller is totally unaware they even happened basically in the dark of night. (You can't fix what you don't know about....Following along...Revision tab used to state what the change was....Now it only states THAT a change was made and the date.) I personally describe this as eBay's firing squad mentality. Shoot first...ask questions later!!!

·10 months agoI have an Ohio State jacket I'm about to list, but torn. I'm not a leather expert, but it kind of feels like PVC, although the label clearly says, "Leather".
