Lister lied about location

So the listers location is stated as United States but turns out he is shipping from Russia. So far, no item received. Any remedy for this?

If your item isn't received by the date seen in the listing, you can open an item not received case the day after that and have 30 days to do so with eBay.

But you knew that, right?

Probably the best way to deal with sellers that misrepresent item location is to avoid them. The "US only" item location filter selects items that are listed as being in the United States; however, as you have seen, not every seller that lists items in the US ships from the US as they should.

Before ordering you should check the estimated delivery dates -- that is a good indication of how far away items actually ship from. Also, going to a seller's profile page or feedback page will tell you where the seller's account was registered. Although some overseas sellers do use US warehouses to ship their items (and some registered US-sellers may employ overseas drop-shippers), if a seller is registered overseas, that raises the likelihood of an item shipping from outside the US, particularly for multiple quantity commodity items. Checking seller feedback will often reveal if there are problems with long shipping times, canceled orders or other supply chain warning signs.

If you read the rest of the reply you quoted that paragraph from, you can see some practical suggestions of exactly how to identify sellers that are likely to be providing inaccurate item location information so that they can be actively avoided.

Many sellers provide ample clues as to what they are doing if users are willing to look closely. In some cases, just glancing at the feedback page is enough. And once you have some experience and know what to look for, many can be identified directly from the listing itself -- or even the search results page without opening the listing at all.

@eburtonlab I know how to do it, but the sellers are still allowed to list invalid location for 'items' that they are selling in the US and ship from another state entirely within the US and ebay does nothing about these kinds of sellers. What makes it worse is ebay allows for the return shipping address to be their foreign address and not the address from which something was shipping from. The only way this will stop is if ebay faces a federal watchdog. The only questions left: Which one? and How long will it take?

I just purchased an item that was listed as being in Phoenix, AZ and it shipped from CHARLOTTE, NC while the seller is in Elad, Israel. The seller uploaded a tracking number that didn't go to my address. SO I get to go to the post office. Thanks Ebay!!

Seller "registered" in a foreign country may be a "drop shipper".

Also keep in mind foreign sellers are not required to have a bank account linked to their account to sell in the USA unlike U. S. sellers. That is a big way Ebay encourages the scamming that goes on. @buyselljack2016 @heczubi

This is a common complaint around here. As @simba6 said just wait file a "item not received" case after the delivery date. How long has it been since you purchased this item?

Just have to wait one day past the last given delivery date. If it's not arrived by then, file an item not received case. Until then you just have to sit tight.
