Letdown 2.0
I paid for item Jan 16, USPS Priority with 3 day handling. Sounded great.
Jan 22 got message from seller apologizing for delay handling. Given assurance of carrier pickup by Jan 23, tracking number was provided. Very friendly.
USPS still does not show acceptance by Jan 25.
Messaged seller asking did something happen. No reply.
Last estimated date of delivery Monday January 27.
First message, seller said they worked for post office, was working overtime, apologized for neglecting the sale. I accepted it, side gig and all that, only human la la, but if seller really worked for post office, why not just take it there instead of arranging for carrier pickup?
What say you, being overly pessimistic? Understand about filing inr claim, but seeking experienced opinions regarding the probable outcome in situation like this. Thanks, all.

·1 year agoCan you elaborate on that @mudshark61369 ? I see absolutely nothing about the seller's location or other listings to indicate they are in China.
That's not entirely correct. Informed Delivery shows photos of letter mail. It does show tracking numbers for packages, but no photos of packages. And you can see the same info logging in to your account at USPS.com. 🙂

·1 year agoOpen a eBay claim one day after : 'Delivery: estimated date of arrival'...that's basically it.
No need for emails to seller.
'Work for post office'...that would be one great way to get fast shipping to you.
If this is a new seller he might be waiting to get your funds of the sale...which is 30+ days usually.

·1 year agoAgreed.
Do you prefer the item over a refund and are not in a rush to receive it? Do you believe the seller will ship within the week or think they are stringing you along?
Is the item something more time-sensitive that you can buy elsewhere or from another seller?
Those are the types of questions I'd ask before making a decision.
barely_tan_gerbil
OP1 year agoRather have the item.
What is your opinion I will get it at this point?
Thank you for the replies.

·1 year agoHard to say, but it's not looking great to me. They were supposed to ship last Tues and EDD is in 2 days? Maybe give the seller a heads up - if they don't ship by this coming Tuesday you'll consider filing a claim. That's giving them an entire week cushion to get it in the mail.

OP1 year agoSeller sent these messages today:
Hey there Juliet! Can you please confirm that it has changed to “shipped†on your end? I discovered that one of the residents of my apartment complex moved your package away from the pickup area, resulting in the mail carrier not picking it up the day it was scheduled. (I wish people wouldn’t touch things that are not theirs!!) I have just gotten home from work and confirmed that the package was picked up, and it says shipped on my end. Please let me know if all looks ok on your end 🙂
Seller included this screenshot:
But when I look at USPS tracker, it still showing this:
My eBay Purchase History still displays this:

How can my seller see the item as shipped, but not see the item in USPS TRACKING is still showing as Pre-shipment??
Thanks for any help to understand what's going on.

OP1 year agoOh sorry, those screenshots show up lousy here. Try this another way:
Sorry, I can't sharpen it up any more..

·1 year agoShipped status happens as soon as a label is generated, so that part is correct.
The item not showing scans could be the package is in USPS possession but wasn't scanned yet (that can happen where it won't get scanned until it reaches your PO) - or it could be someone in her apartment complex stole it but she's assuming her mail carrier took it. She left it in a public area so there's no way to know at this stage.
Can't tell you how often my carrier picks up and doesn't scan and the first sort facility misses the scan so nothing shows on tracking until it's out for delivery to the buyer.
Looks like she generated label late on 1/22 and expected pickup on 1/23 and is saying it didn't go out until the day after 1/24 (yesterday). I'd give it a week and if you don't see any scans at all or receive the package by next weekend, file a claim.
You can always make arrangements to re-pay the seller if it turns up at a later date.

OP1 year agoThank you for explaining that scanning to me, I didn't see it on my own. Thank you! Excellent!

·1 year agoHi @barely_tan_gerbil . I just checked and can see tracking status finally updated. Package was scanned in at seller's local PO, and got another scan at their local sort facility last night. USPS current estimated delivery is Thursday, so you should have your package by the end of the week if there are no further delays. ðŸ‘

You have 30 days from the last estimated delivery case to open an INR. So if you are so inclined you can give the seller a little extra time to get his act together. While it's a good sign that the seller has been communicating, it's getting to the point of giving indications of trying to string you along past the deadline to open a case. As long as you're careful not to let that happen, the timing of the case will depend on your tolerance for either a late delivery or a delay in getting a refund.

OP1 year agoYes, understand, and thank you.

·1 year agoA day after the estimated delivery date Ebay gave you, open an Item Not Received case.
Go to your purchase history and click I didn't get it in the menu next to the item.
The seller will have 3 days to provide a tracking number showing it was delivered or refund.
If they don't, return to the case on day 4 and ask Ebay to step in.
