Laser TV - Item Not Received
Been a loyal eBay Buyer for 8 years and this last purchase for a Laser TV has been the worst experience I have ever had with any Website. I have found from this Purchase that eBay does not protect the Buyer and does not read the information. I purchased the item Nov. 19th and the tracking info said I received the item on the 23rd. How do you receive an item from Hong Kong in 4 days, customs alone takes 4 days to process. I had to speak with the United States Postal Service, which sent me a snippet of the address of the package and the weight. Wrong address, wrong name and package weighs less that an lipstick. A laser tv weighs 20 to 25 lbs. I sent this info to eBay and no one looked at the information. Even the Seller said they used the wrong tracking number and that the package would arrive in 15 to 25 days, another lie from the Seller. I use the new tracking number and a package arrives in New Jersey, I live on the West Coast. Again eBay did not look at the information. I have had to go through the garbage AI system they use at least 11 times and it keeps sending me info that the package arrived. This has been ongoing for almost one month. Multiple service reps and 4 supervisors and nothing was done to protect me the Buyer. Finally I had to contact my credit card company since no one at eBay would do a anything. I have spoke with a supervisor and multiple service reps that told me if you would have contacted us earlier then we could have done something. How insulting is that. I told eBay you forced my hand to protect myself since no one at eBay would do anything. ebay would rather look the other way with a Seller that has been on the site for less than three months than a Buyer with a perfect 100% rating for 8 years. Customer service stinks, the AI on eBay stinks and I would never suggest to anyone to use eBay. To add insult to injury the Seller has been banned from eBay and no longer a registered user yet it still shows up on my purchases that I received the laser tv. Even my credit card company is wondering what is wrong with eBay

The information I gave was absolutely correct, and not even made in response to a post of yours (I actually don't see that you've posted in this thread). But eBay policy is quite clear: if you open a case anywhere else you can't open a case with eBay, and any case you have open with eBay will be closed. That doesn't mean you can't succeed with a case opened elsewhere. You say you won your dispute with Paypal, not eBay. So how does that contraindicate anything I've said?

·1 year agoEbay's survival as a marketplace for many types of item is dependent on finding a solution to the fake address problem.
Ebay will continue to have sellers who use this method of defrauding buyers because there are buyers who do not do anything to avoid being cheated.
@chcchi.ld2yy4om
@lakefor94 has listed your contribution to this problem. Any online marketplace is going to be a problem if you do not shop more carefully and protect yourself.

·1 year agoNot to sound harsh but........
Mistake #1-Buying a TV from an overseas seller.
Mistake #2-Not being aware of the Ebay Money Back Guarantee and knowing how to use it.
Mistake #3-Even bothering with AI.
That being said, at least you can still file with your Credit Card. Before you give up on Ebay maybe read the policies that protect buyers. I've found that almost always, contacting anyone is unnecessary. That is if one is aware of the protections in place fpr buyers.
Good Luck with your credit card chargeback.

Sounds like you are just another victim of the "fake tracking scam". Its been going on here for years, and is quite popular since eBay has no published policies or protocol to aid victims. Since you have information from USPS, I would recommend that you contact eBay via one of their social media customer service portals. This will connect you to US based human eBay employees that are quite familiar with the problem and do have the authority to help:
https://www.facebook.com/eBay/ (use the blue message button)
OR one of these:
https://www.instagram.com/ebayforsellers/
https://x.com/askebay
The foreign call center agents you get via call back or chat, are not very useful in this situation.
Note that once there is a record of delivery associated with your item, the regular eBay channels are seemingly stuck in denial mode. They will not check to see if the parcel had tracking that originated before you even paid, or it was for a 2 oz. envelope when your package should be 20 lbs.
Some victims simply file a "not as described" return, get a return label from the seller and simply return some "air". It is not really accurate or above board, but will serve to take care of the crook and beat the eBay denial bots at their own game when you get your refund.
Though it will close your eBay case, you can file with PayPal who now has a choice "shipped to wrong address" for victims of this problem if you paid that way. You have to get the "item not received" idea out of your head because it will no longer work. If you have to go to your credit card for redress chose FRAUD/fake tracking scam. If you insist you didn't get anything, the claim will be presented to eBay who responds with the same phony delivery information and you will lose again. eBay has known about this for over a decade, PayPal knows, parcel carriers know, and so does the credit card industry. Now you know, too.
I would suggest you try one of the social media links provided above first. Check to see if your seller is still a registered user. If he/she pulled the same stunt enough times already, they may already be booted from the site which will help your case as well. Simply state the facts as you know them, you can upload your USPS information, and see what they say when you say you need help with a fake tracking scam.
Good luck to you, and let us know how it turns out.

Good information, but not applicable here. The OP has already gone to their credit card. EBay is now out of the picture.

Thanks for the tag. After re-reading the OP, I see that is mentioned. Hopefully @chcchi.ld2yy4om will get the problem solved!

It's easy to miss in a wall of text, paragraph breaks are our friends.

No, eBay is not out of the picture. You keep giving out incorrect information here - just like many of your past comments under my thread.
I’m one of the victims, and I just won my dispute case with PayPal. eBay lost. I got my money back.
So yes, victims should absolutely open a dispute with their credit card company and clearly indicate that this is not just an “Item Not Received†case. It’s a fraudulent charge that happened on eBay’s platform, which makes eBay the responsible merchant in the eyes of payment processors.
If more victims win chargeback cases, maybe eBay will finally step up and fix their flawed algorithm instead of continuing to enable scammers.

·1 year agoTough deal with your purchase.
Buying a TV, mail order, why?
Buying from a new seller?
Buying a TV shipping from a overseas seller?
What could go wrong?
Glad you paid with a CC and are allowing them to sort it out. If there is a next time, vet the seller before the purchase.
