Lame auto pay policy
Summary: dadec_27 expressed frustration with eBay's auto pay and auto ship policy, particularly the inability to verify order details before purchase, resulting in a $350 loss due to the item being sent to the wrong address. They blamed eBay for not allowing order reviews, labeling the policy as poorly designed. mudshark61369 responded by explaining how address verification is available during checkout and suggested that dadec_27 might have been a victim of a tracking number scam. They advised contacting the shipping agency and credit card provider to potentially resolve the issue and recommended checking seller feedback before purchasing to avoid similar problems in the future.
This auto pay/ auto ship is the stupidest policy ebay can have. I don't care about the auto pay, but not letting the buyer check to see if the address, item and actual payment is correct before signing is completely asinine. I just lost $350 because I didn't realize they put this lame policy back in place in June and now I had a seller send my $350 item to the wrong address and there is nothing I can do about it. The package was probably stolen and the seller isn't at fault, the post office shows it was delivered and now I'm screwed. ebay and your lame instant gratification. If you're worried about sellers manipulating auctions, use your brain and find another way because this is the lame crap that can happen when you don't give the buyer a chance to review an order.

If the seller requires a payment method in advance for a bid or an offer, check the address on the bid or offer page before submitting the bid or the offer and change it if necessary. Change your primary shipping address in your account settings if it is no longer current.
Lately eBay has been allowing buyers to change the shipping address within fifteen minutes of the end of an auction before submitting the finalized order information to the seller, I believe.

You may not be looking carefully at the check out screen the price and shipping address are shown there. Under the shipping address there's even an option to change the address if a person wants to send it to someone whose address they have saved, as a gift. The shipping address is also shown in your Order details.

You fell victim to the Fake tracking number scan something (not your item) was sent to an address in your zip code. eBay can't do much about it because of Federal postal privacy regulations. All they know is what tracking shows, which is a delivered scan somewhere in your zip code.
If you paid for the item using a credit card you may still have time to file for charge back. Try calling the shipping agency first with the tracking number you received, and tell them you did not receive the item at your address and ask if the label's address matched yours. If it didn't ask them to email you that info. That message will only say in general that the item was sent to a different address than yours. Then call your card provider tell them you were defrauded and you have a note from the shipper stating the package was sent someplace else.
In the future check each seller's feedback profile before you buy from one. The last 2 sellers you bought from have negative and neutral feedback saying items were not received/delivered.
