Item Not Received, Tracking Says Delivered FedEX - Buyer What Now
I'm the buyer. FedEX. We were anticipating package, per "out for delivery" and both were home, we have 2 cameras out front plus ring door bell/camera plus camera that has view of entire garage/driveway area.
Nothing. No one entered our property. We receive notifications within 30 seconds on my Apple Watch, iPhone and husbands Android phone.
I've posted on Next Door App hoping someone would chime in they received it. Drove over to same street number and partial name match for our street, we've received their packages in error over the years, and nothing, they didn't accidentally receive either.
Tried calling FedEX for the GPS coordinates of the delivery driver at the time of delivery and all I get is the seller/shipper has to file a lost package claim.
What now? Driving to FedEx office to try to get in person is a 50 or so mile round trip. I can't seem to talk to a real person.
Chatted with eBay and they say I will be fine. I only have to wait until April 14th for them to step in.
Reviewing posts here most seem to think Buyer is out of luck and Seller has no obligation. What about insurance IF they didn't insure? I don't know. 100% Buyer Guarantee? I'm a long time 25 year eBayer, mostly Buyer and some selling past few years.
Am I doing everything properly?

·3 years agoI asked Ebay to step on. They said the seller showed tracking showed the item was delivered. It was never delivered here to me. Ebay agreed with the seller. I appealed the decision. I won the appeal. They refunded my money. I've always been honest. I'd never lie about receiving something. And for That $24 dollars. I'd have left Ebay. 24 years and 4 months doing business through Ebay, I'd have left and never used Ebay again. I'm glad things worked out the way they should have. Thanks for all the comments.

·3 years ago@eporteus,
"eBay certainly CAN and should help us with the problem".
1. They could force sellers to show proof of “ship to†address since they are the only ones that have access to that info.
As I posted earlier this scam does not only happen on ebay, it happens on other sites as well, because they know the site's can't access more than the tracking info.
A scammer could copy and paste the original address but change it on the shipping label afterwards. They do not play by the rules after all. Since unused labels are refunded after 30 days, they could print out a label with the correct address send it to ebay, and then print another with the changed address.
2. They could force them to purchase shipping labels through their websites like Depop is doing.
They can pull the scam even if they do print labels through ebay. Not only that but ebay cannot require the use of specific sites sellers can use to buy postage from by law.
Since most of the fake tracking scams come out of China those sellers are using ebay authorized international services which do not provide door to door tracking. They use international services that partner with domestic services who do the final delivery. So its easy for them to provide a different address to the domestic service. If they have their items stored in the U.S. who knows what address or item they send to the warehouse? Most of the high volume chinese sellers are drop shippers anyway, so they can send the supplier a different address.

·3 years agoWell I don't have this problem when I shop with Amazon or other reputable companies. I'm done with eBay. I won't be buying anything else until they figure out a way to fix the problem. eBay doesn't want to lose the revenue, so they are not going to fix the problem. At this point, I'd rather pay more for my products than deal with this aggravation. But thank you mudshark for your input

·3 years agoI used Fed Ex exclusively on here when USPS was terrible during the pandemic. They have excellent customer service. Call their 1800 number and they can get a snapshot of where the item was delivered and confirm this for you. As a seller I have always done this for MY CUSTOMER if a problem like this arises and usually they can tell me where this package is without a doubt.
vintagecraze50

·3 years ago@vintagecraze50,
Do you really think ebay will accept a Fed Ex photo as proof of delivery or of non delivery? If they did, buyers could post photos of a different location to scam a seller. eBay will not accept emails from FedEx, UPS, or the USPS either since they can be faked.
vintagecraze50

·3 years agoThis is a bunch of **bleep**! A buyer shouldn’t have to go through all of this to prove that a seller is being dishonest by providing y misleading tracking info. eBay should require the sellers to provide more than a tracking number. They need to provide proof that the item was shipped to the customerâ€s address. USPS provides receipts with the ship to address. I’m sure fedex does too. eBay needs to do something about this. It’s been going on long enough. As buyers we need to state in our claims that tracking info provided is not for this order , not to the correct shipping address, and not the correct wt. The seller should have to prove otherwise

·3 years ago@eporteus,
If you had read my post dated 4/11/23 at 3:13am, now on page 2 of this topic thanks to someone spamming it. You would know why ebay can't help you with this problem through the regular channels unless YOU get the necessary information.
This is not only a problem on ebay, but it happens on the other 3rd party online shopping sites as well, because scammers know that the sites are not allowed access to the shipping label information address/package info, by the shipping agencies. They can only access the tracking information. If you lose an item not received dispute, there is an appeal button in the message you receive, but it requires doing the foot work, to win the appeal.

I don’t understand how you expect unsuspecting buyers to do the leg work. The shipping companies wonâ€t give you the time of day.

Scroll down this page and read my reply to disneychristmas written on 4/11/23 at 3:13 AM.the time stamp for replies is in the upper right corner of each one.
It explains what you need to do to get resolution and why eBay's Item Not Received portion of the Money Back Guarantee does not work in these situations.
Had either of you done that, you would have the information you need to get a refund already. GPS data nor an email from FedEx will not help you with an appeal.

·3 years agowhat do you do when you buy a item and the seller gives fraudulent shipping and tracking information, says the item was delivered , i contacted fed ex and opened up a case pertaining to this shipment, fed ex stated that this tracking number was not shipped to my address and was not labeled to me either, I provided this information to ebays money back gaurentee department, I also provided this detailed information to the seller, neither eBay or the seller would do anything but reply with the item shows delivered, no one ever looked into the fed ex case # , or the details from fed ex tracking details that the seller provided in the order details. TOTAL FRAUD! I PAID FOR A ITEM AND NEVER RECEIVED IT!, EBAYS HELP AND RESOLUTION CENTER WAS 0 HELP AND A WAIST OF MY TIME AND MONEY! PLEASE HELP!!
vintagecraze50
·3 years agoOk looks like the seller sent an inexpensive trinket in a Fed Ex shipment to another address other than your. It can be a complete scam. Fed Ex has record of where this shipment actually went, and if you can prove it was not mailed to you or your address on the ebay account you will win the case. See if Fed Ex can get you a pic of the actual label and be persistent with them. This is Mail Fraud.
fab_finds4u
·3 years agoIf you dispute you will lose because tracking shows delivered.
You need to get it in writing from FedEx that the address on the label and to the house it was delivered to was not your address.
Then when you have something from FedEx to back up your claim you can appeal.

·3 years ago@disneychristmas I have had multiple FedEx packages be misdelivered and when this happens they typically find out where the package ended up without the seller becoming involved. Sometimes they will take so long to start a GPS search there is almost no chance of getting the package back the easy way unfortunately. I have mostly been lucky that my neighbors do the right thing and bring the package to me.

·3 years agoDo NOT dispute anything yet...
Call and talk to the local Fedex and ask them why THEY show an item was delivered??
Please know that sometimes the drivers (all subcontractors) show items delivered because they just couldn't get " to it" today; and the item shows up tomorrow.
So again, I would
a) contact Fedex
b.) Wait till tomorrow ends.
If there is no resolve, then you need to get a report from Fedex that shows the item showed delivered but GPS showed it was really delivered 'here' (if that's the case)- then open a case with eBay . You will, at first, be denied. Then, you can 'escalate and show that letter that you got from Fedex.
Bottom line is "as long as tracking shows it was delivered, the seller is currently free and clear and ebay will side with the seller (at first).
disneychristmas
OP3 years agoI will try to call tomorrow or pay them a visit and try to get the GPS info. Seems most of my deliveries these days, are just by a random person in a personal vehicle not a real FedEx truck, both with FedEX and sometimes USPS but at least USPS it is only Amazon packages. FedEx is the worst, I think. Thanks.

·3 years agoPlease do not wait for eBay to step in.
The item shows FedEx delivered.
Once it shows delivered there is no MBG, unless you can prove it was not delivered to your address.
MBG is not for the shipping company says delivered but you day didnt get the item.
Not saying you are not telling the truth but if everyone could say "I know it says delivered but I didnt get it" and then they get their money back that would be a huge loss for all sellers.
Message the seller and ask if they will contact FedEx for the information from FedEx.
Insurance is for items lost in transit OR damaged by the shipping company. It is also for the seller and not the buyer.

OP3 years agooh forgot, even the photo for proof of delivery is JUST the label. Even my WalMart + deliveries show my front porch with flower pots and my brick and front door in the background. What kind of proof of delivery is that? I can take photos of labels all day long and it doesn't prove anything. So frustrated for myself and the seller.
