Item not received - eBay Standard Delivery
I won TCG cards from the listing and it was shipped via ebay standard delivery. It was stated delivered in Sept 23. I understand that the "delivered" here is not in the mailbox but just reaching the sorting facility. I reached out to the seller and we gave it about 2 weeks more in case it will show up in the mail but still nothing shows up to this date. I asked the USPS and the mailman, but was told none. Some of them don't even have a clue what is an ebay standard delivery. I asked my neighbors but also none. I have already opened an "item not received" case but I strongly feel that ebay will just close this case. What are my options? Do I just lose my money and the items? That's a double whammy on my part, 😞 My back is really behind the wall. Any help or suggestions are very much appreciated. Thank you!

·10 months agoPersonally, as long as you were amicable in your messages I would have refunded and collected the insurance. But newer sellers may not be aware they have that option. Also, from our point of view the tracking says delivered and you may just be trying to get a free card.
It is actually pretty rare for these to get lost between the delivery scan and the destination. If you order cards a lot I would highly recommend signing up for USPS's 'Informed Delivery'. With that you get an image scan of all your incoming letter mail for the day and if something doesn't arrive there's a box to check that supposedly alerts the local PO to look for it.

OP10 months agoI actually have informed delivery but for some reason it did not show up. I have been waiting for it every day. USPS removed that checkbox already. For some reason, they must have updated their website or system and took off that checkbox where you can request for a search that you did not get the package/envelope.
The seller told me they cannot collect insurance claim if the tracking stated "delivered". It only works when it is showing as not delivered. I definitely am not just trying to get a free card. I bought plenty of TCG cards these past 2-3 months. Without counting the exact, I would say at least 100 orders and all of them arrived. This is the only that haven't. I wouldnt be wasting my time asking for help or suggestions here if my only intent is to get a free card. But, thank you for your feedback.
I agree with you that it is pretty rare for it to get lost because 1 out of 100+.

·10 months agoI ship a lot of these, I would probably have refunded you after it didn't show up. After 30 days the seller can get a refund on their sold cost and only lose the postage/envelope/label cost.

OP10 months agoSeller can get a refund on their sold cost - is this the insurance claim for the ebay standard delivery?
Seller told me that the claim won't work if the tracking shows "delivered". He will just get denied of the claim.

·10 months agoWell in about 10 days when I can file the most recent I will know. I've gotten several refunds for ESE shipments in the past, can't recall if any said "delivered" when I filed. Some shipment never get the "delivered" designation though most show up anyway.

·10 months agoWithout a tracking number that says delivered you will win. Is there a tracking number and if so, what does it say. If you lose on eBay and paid by credit card, contact your card company.

OP10 months agoYes, there is a tracking but it is not the typical USPS ground advantage or priority mail tracking number that everyone sees daily. The typical tracking begins with a number 9 and is like about 13 numbers long. However, the tracking used is one of those special weird flawed tracking for trading cards - normally used by ebay called Ebay Standard Delivery. It is normally used for shipping trading cards because they are cheaper but less reliable. I am attaching a screenshot on how it looks like for reference.
I found this here in ebay community on how ebay standard envelope (ESE) is being defined and I'm quoting it:
"eBay Standard Envelope (ESE) is a metered mail shipment so it does not receive traditional tracking scans like a package would, and the clerk at the PO counter cannot scan it or track it. The envelope is scanned by sorting machinery at distribution centers along the way.
With ESE, a 'delivered' scan generally occurs at the last USPS sort facility before it gets to the buyer, so typically the buyer will receive their order a few days after the delivered scan.

I used Paypal to pay for the item. Will my credit card or Paypal account get banned in eBay if I dispute it with them and they tried a chargeback?

Something for under 20 bucks in a eBay standard envelope got mailed.
It looks like metered mail...almost like a junk mail label.
Maybe you accidentally threw it out.
It between you and the seller...not USPS or eBay or neighbors.

OP10 months agoI definitely did not throw it out. I was waiting for it in the mail every day. The further the date moves away from the Sept 23rd delivery date, the worrier I get.
I've had experience in last month where the actual item was delivered to me one week after the "delivered" status date, but for this one, it is now two weeks. That is why I do not know what else to do. The seller won't budge and won't provide any type of help or resolution. All he kept responding was open a ticket with ebay and complain to ebay about the flawed process of the ebay standard envelope.

What happened after that we don't know.
eBay can't help and it's up to the seller if 'they want to do something'.
A buyer can do a dispute with the buyer's credit card...but I wouldn't do that.
It's a small price item under $20.
'delivered to me one week after the 'delivered' status date...sounds like more of your city post office not doing their job.

·10 months agoIf tracking shows it has having been delivered, that's all that matters to eBay. In other words, they consider that valid proof of delivery.
At this point, a charge back on your card is probably your only option.
Not sure why you feel your seller bears any responsibility for this.
