Item Not Received despite tracking “delivered” — eBay repeatedly denying claim, need advice
Summary: remo_mengoni explains an issue with a trading card purchased through eBay that shows as 'delivered' but was never received. Despite contacting eBay support and providing video evidence from a home security camera, eBay has repeatedly closed their case, citing tracking status. remo_mengoni has also filed a USPS Missing Mail Search and an insurance claim. Community members suggest exploring proof of misdelivery with USPS and considering a chargeback dispute with their credit card. The discussion highlights potential scams and advises calm interaction with postal services.
I’m hoping someone here has dealt with something similar and can advise.
The situation: I purchased a graded trading card ($850.65 total) through eBay’s Authenticity Guarantee program. Tracking shows “Delivered in/at mailbox” on July 29 at 11:53 AM — but I never received it.
What eBay has said so far: Multiple support reps (4 different agents across several emails) have closed my case citing the tracking status, despite me reporting well within the 30-day window for item-not-received claims.
The evidence I’ve since gathered:
My home security camera (motion-triggered) captured the same USPS carrier delivering a different package to my address at 11:41 AM that same day — but there’s no motion event recorded around 11:53 AM, when this item was allegedly delivered.
I’ve opened a USPS Missing Mail Search and requested GPS/location data for the delivery scan directly with USPS management.
I’ve also filed a USPS insurance claim for the $100 covered under Ground Advantage.
Despite sharing this video evidence with eBay, I’m still waiting on a substantive response beyond automated acknowledgments.
Has anyone successfully gotten eBay to reopen an Authenticity Guarantee case with evidence like this? Any advice on escalation paths beyond the standard support email chain would be really appreciated.

·6 days agoThat's because it's not your name and address on that label that was scanned as delivered at 11:53 AM, despite your tracking number came from the Authenticity Guarantee at eBay.
Instead @remo_mengoni your local Postmaster should click on the screen in front of him, and read the name and address on the photo of the package with your tracking number. Like this:
Right then and there, before launching a Missing Mail Search for your/not your package.

·1 week agoOnce it's scanned as delivered, it's between you and the PO. The only evidence eBay cares about is delivered scan or no delivered scan. Your missing mail search will come back as 'item delivered' and only the label purchaser can collect on the insurance.
That said, I was under the impression the card authenticator shipped FedEx?

·1 week agoMost of the time, a credit card chargeback dispute is the only effective solution to mis-delivery.
I would definitely open the dispute if I was the buyer, and let the chips fall where they may.

·1 week ago · EditedEDIT: MY BAD, I just realized AG was the last ones to have their hands on this package, so it was definitely a mis-delivery. (so I'm deleting all the stuff about the zip code scam).
But the following still applies:
When you go to your post office to request the GPS lookup, it's a good idea to say you suspect a scam, because then it's not like you're accusing them of misdelivering, which could make them defensive. They literally don't HAVE to do a GPS lookup for you, so you need to approach them with humility and calmness. They get frantic people in their faces all day, so don't be that guy.

·1 week agoYour video evidence doesn't really prove anything.
Go to your PO and have them check to see where it was delivered.
If it was miss-delivered, it's between you and USPS

OP1 week ago · EditedFair point — I understand it ultimately comes down to USPS confirming what actually happened. I’ve actually already got a Missing Mail Search open with USPS, and it’s been escalated internally by the local Postmaster to someone reviewing the GPS/delivery scan data directly. Still waiting to hear back.
Has anyone here actually gotten USPS to confirm a misdelivery via GPS and successfully used that to get eBay to reopen a case? Trying to figure out what my odds actually are at this point.

·1 week agoAs long as tracking shows it was delivered, neither Ebay or the seller will refund.

I'm sorry that happened.
If your name and correct address were on the label, ask the Post Office/shipper to review the GPS on the delivery, retrieve the item from the wrong house, and deliver it to you.

If USPS confirms mis-delivery, you should collect on USPS insurance.

·1 week ago · Edited@remo_mengoni I don't know your odds, but I have seen many reports here in the forum of people getting confirmation from USPS that their packages were misdelivered.
Side note: please ignore the advice someone here gave to do a chargeback. That only brings the same result with Delivered tracking. And even if you could win it, the money would most likely be taken from the seller, who did absolutely nothing wrong.

·6 days agoIf tracking shows delivery or attempted delivery ebay covers that for the seller if the buyer gets a refund from their card
