Item I'm interested in Not showing up in Searches
There is a vintage pair of headphones for sale by a gentleman about 20 miles from me. When I first search for that model headphone, sorted by distance, the item will appear at the top of the list for about 3 seconds. Then, as quickly as it appears, it disappears from the list, and the closest item is now over 100 miles away. Boom! It shows up, and then Boom!, it's gone. I was able to vary my search criteria and have them appear (one time) long enough for me to save them into my watch list. Now, going to my watch list is the only way I can find them. NO SEARCH I perform will put them in a search response. What the heck is going on here? If I was this seller, I'd be extremely angry that I'm putting an item out there that isn't getting recognition, thus losing a potential sale. And before someone says "category" or "keyword", I'm searching all categories and the keywords I use are right in his title.

·3 years agoYou know I just got off the phone with eBay customer service and I'll have to admit they're the biggest bunch of idiots I've ever talked to. They couldn't understand a simple question like I can't find it when I search for it and kept asking if I had already sold it I mean they can see that information they also couldn't tell that it was not sold so forget them and just realize that it's sometimes takes up to 24 hours for an item to become visible that's how inefficient they are.

·3 years agoIf you are using an ad blocker, what you may be seeing is the ad blocker blocking sponsored listings as the page loads.
eBay and the various ad blockers are in a constant arms-race over sponsored listings. Ad blockers figure out a rule that blocks sponsored listings, and eBay changes how sponsored listings display to get around the block.
Try disabling your ad blocker to see if the item appears and remains when you search.
If you search using a sort other than "Best Match", the sponsored listings that appear should also have matching organic (non-sponsored) listings that appear somewhere in the sort order.

OP3 years agoIf this is the case as you propose, then it’s pulling both the sponsored and organic ads down. The list only consists of a very few items, maybe 50 or so, and the one I am interested in isn’t in that list, regardless of the query search order request. I will turn off my ad blocker and see if it matters. Thanks.

If you are using "Best Match" only one version of each listing, either sponsored or organic, may appear; whichever sorts higher in the list may appear, and the other version may be suppressed by the sort. In other sorts, both versions should appear, unless things have changed recently.
So "Best Match" may suppress the organic version, and your ad blocker may block the sponsored version.
There may be a setting change you can make in your ad blocker to avoid blocking sponsored listings, or you can disable ad blocking entirely on eBay. If your ad blocker has an "Anti-circumvention" list (Ad Block), or "ABP" list (Ad Block Plus), try disabling that. In the past those filters affected sponsored listings at various times.

·3 years agoYeah, because it can't be ebay making a mistake right. The search is a wreck and all you do is tell people they must be doing something wrong.

·3 years agoSomething the idiots at eBay won't tell you is that sometimes it takes 24 hours for an item to show up after submitting it that's really poor customer service in my opinion for the 15% that we're being gouged on by these morons

I can't explain your search results except to say that eBay's search engine was rather poor to begin with and through the years has grown worse. Maybe post to the Technical Issues board:

·3 years agoThe URL is fine. YouTube uses that format when users click the “share†option rather than copying and pasting the URL from a browser’s location bar.
@ukfan4sure!, for grins and giggles, have you tried searching on another eBay site, such as eBay Canada or eBay UK? I’m curious about whether the same thing happens.
