·1 year agoEbay doesn't work that way, nor does the law. You needed to return it as an "item not as described". Any money spent fixing it is on you. Furthermore, once you fixed it, you can no longer return it as an item not as described since you altered it
Years ago I won a court case from a guy who bought my 65 mustang...you put new tires on it, then when found out he could not get original parts for some repairs, he wanted to return the car and have me pay for the new tires. I agreed to the return but not paying for the tires...he sued me, judge threw it out and said the buyer bought the tires at their own discretion. So he could return the car to me, with either the old or new tires

·1 year agoIf you wanted the seller to cover the repair, you should not have paid to have the item fixed unless the agreed and sent the money (as a partial refund) beforehand.
If the seller didn't agree, you can't spend the money and expect the seller to reimburse you. You could have opened a claim to return it as "not as described."
You goofed on this. Consider the $50 a cheap education.

When you get something that doesn't work you are supposed to file a "return request", return it and get your money back. If you paid to have it fixed instead, the seller is not responsible for that cost.
