It just hit me! Seller gets to collect double on my item not delivered.

This is the same story already on another thread, so I'm not going to bore you with all the details. But, still working on back dor resolutions and it just occured to me. Item label gets damaged in transit and address become insufficient for final delivery. Delivery attempt is never made and package sits in USPS black hole.

eBay denies al cases, appeals and buyer protection as "insufficient address" is their out. So, seller gets to keep my $319. But, as I an not the shipper, only he can file a claim with the USPS for the insured value. So, when he does so, he will get to keep my money and get the USPS insurance money. Nice business model.

This topic was about an international transaction, not about media mail being used. The item in question was shipped via an international carrier from Greece, who handed off the package to the USPS for final delivery.

eBay has no say about the USPS policies concerning the items that can be shipped via media mail. The USPS policy concerning using Media Mail to ship magazines, even very old ones, is about them containing advertising.

This is the fourth topic you have written about this transaction, the second one on this board and 2 you posted on the Ask a Mentor board. You can find topics you have written in the past on the Community by going to the upper right corner of the page where you see your avatar image, click on it and select My Profile. On the page that opens is a list of topics you have authored. You can click on anyone of them to open and reply to it.

As for your conspiracy theory about the seller being able to double dip a refund. Since the item came from Greece the seller cannot contact USPS to get a refund. You do not even know if they insured the package.

Something you wrote in one of your replies, that would have helped us days ago was, that you had the package shipped to your mechanic. So maybe it was you who didn't enter the correct address and that is why it was undeliverable for insufficient address. Have you double checked that with your mechanic, to see if a mistake was made?

Then again, maybe it was a fake tracking number scam on the seller's part. Had you had it sent to your address you would have some ground to deal with the USPS as the recipient. You might also have been able to deal with the USPS if you took copies of the listing page and the Order details and explained that you had the package sent directly to your mechanic. A note from your mechanic stating that might also have helped. Then the clerk might have been able to tell you if the address you gave the seller was matched by the one on the shipping label, also if the package type/ size/ weight was appropriate for what you ordered. Then with that info you may have been issued a refund by ebay.

Now that you have contacted your card provider, you have lost all of your ebay protections. Your card provider may also want proof of non delivery, in which case you may have to go to the P.O. with your mechanic and bring your laptop, phone or tablet, showing that it was you who purchased the item and that your mechanic was to be the recipient, and get a note so you could prove to your card provider that the item was never delivered.

FYI. when you lose a dispute on ebay, you also lose the ability to leave feedback for a transaction.

Buyer has tracking number to show item not delivered. Sellers fault for not including a packing slip. Buyer wins case. Seller can still file for lost/stolen package and/or insurance claim.

The buyer can also file for a lost/stolen package as well. When filing, USPS asks for a detailed description of what is in the box.

Insufficient address the buyer is required to have their proper address on file with Ebay. Buyer can fight that if they never changed their address, and received all other packages from Ebay. They could send in USPS address checker verification screen shot.

No tracking number, seller looses all seller protections.

For $315 as a buyer I would request the seller to add signature confirmation before buying the item, and the seller can adjust the price to cover that cost. As a seller, I would notify the buyer that one is required.

Did this actually happen? What was the outcome if it did?
