It’s impossible to reach real customer service on eBay — please fix this
I’m posting this because I’m completely fed up with eBay’s so-called customer service. It’s nearly impossible to reach an actual human being when something goes wrong.
Every “Contact Us†option leads to the same dead end, automated menus that loop endlessly without giving any real help. There’s no clear way to reach a person by phone or chat who can actually resolve issues. It feels like eBay has quietly removed all genuine customer support and replaced it with bots.
Even when I finally managed to request a refund, the process was confusing, slow, and filled with contradictory messages. I shouldn’t have to search Reddit or third-party forums just to figure out how to talk to someone at eBay.
If eBay wants to keep customer trust, this needs to change. Buyers deserve accessible, human support, not an endless automated maze.

·11 months agoOn each Ebay page there is a link to contact Customer Service at the top of the page and again at the bottom of the page.
I would suggest that you contact Ebay for Business on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter for the better trained CSRs.
Here are your options for contacting Ebay Customer Service. Please be aware that for social media CS, you send them a Private Message and briefly explain what your problem or issue is. Feel free to leave your Name, address, phone number and/or your email address in this message. It is private and secure and it may help to speed up the response for you.
https://twitter.com/askebay
https://www.facebook.com/ebay
https://www.instagram.com/ebayforsellers/
Your options will be on the left. If you use the link below you can only get to the Automated Assistant or Chat box type AGENT in the box and hit enter. You will then get more options. Not all options are available 24/7. It will depend on staffing available. So sometimes you can request a call back and sometimes you can't. Sometimes you have the Chat option available and other times it won't me. If it is important to you to use one of those options, just try back later.
If you use a cell phone or other mobile device, you may need to turn off your Spam filter so that Ebay can call you.
If you are a seller outside of the US or Canada, you will need to use the Chat Option.

·11 months agoA little something to add to what's already been said.
Better get used to AI replacing customer service in alot of companies. It's one of the jobs most at risk from what I've read on the subject.
Online forums will probably be the go-to for many people in the coming days. They already are for me here on eBay.............................
msha3839
·11 months agoYou can ask moderators to help you contact eBay. ..they are very active…
kathiec
·11 months agoThis is not true. The forum moderators don't work for eBay, they work for Khoros. So they have no ability to help anyone contact eBay. They simply moderate the forums for compliance with the Community Guidelines.
albertabrightalberta
·11 months agoSince when do Khoros moderators help posters contact ebay? The moderators don't even work for ebay.

·11 months agoI think msha meant mentors, not moderators. It's the "M" word thing.
You can ask mentors to help you get in touch with eBay—they're very active, and a few are already participating in this thread.

"Even when I finally managed to request a refund, the process was confusing, slow"
I'm guessing that your problem was after a purchasing an item , eBay removed it from the site and probably from your Purchase History.
This makes it a lot harder to open a claim with eBay's Money Back Guarantee and generally involves contacting eBay so they can open a claim for you manually.
It's definitely confusing for buyers if they don't know the process.
You mention that you were finally able to request a refund so hopefully you received it.

You CAN get a call back or chat with a rep. These people are in foreign call centers, and though polite and sympathetic to your problem, have little or no authority to help you. As suggested, they often give you the WRONG advice, and if you follow it, and the situation gets worse it is going to be ON YOU. eBay does not back the advice these people provide.
You are better off explaining the issue here. You can be directed to avenues of help that the CS agents in 'Somewhereistan' are clueless about. Even if you don't like the advice given here, and insist on contacting CS instead, at least you will have a "sniff test" to perhaps recognize what they tell you is NOT what you need to know or do to solve your problem.
Good luck.

Ebay DOES NOT give a flying...
They will not "fix" anything.
They are a ginormous privately held cash cow of a corporation.
Deal with it, or go elsewhere is unfortunately how you have to look at it.

This is an automated site. Pages upon pages of policies along with this forum with very knowledgeable people to help you along.
If you were planning on bending the ear of someone on ebay because;
a.) you didn't get what you were supposed to (see 30 day Money Back Guarantee shown on every item)
b.) you didn't get paid (did you open a payment account properly?)
c.) you don't like feedback given (very few are changed, google what is, and then google 'how to')
d.) your buyer sent you back a rock (if you are TRS you can 'deduct up to 50% of the refund)
e.) you wanted your 3 year warranty honored (too bad so sad, manufacturers do not have to honor things not sold by their authorized dealers and there is nothing this site can do for you)
f.) your store isn't selling (that's on you- get better stuff)
g.) your seller refused to ship (or honor an auction) your item (if paid for, see 30 day MBG, if not, nothing will/can be done. Can't force a horse to drink)
Plenty more with a 'way' to deal with it.
Some things are just 'too bad so sad'

·11 months ago1. Many of the issues encountered on eBay can be handled without needing to actually speak with an eBay employee.
2. If you received an item that's not as described, or if you did not receive it at all, you are very well protected by eBay's Money Back Guarantee for buyers. If you'll return here and give details of your problem, we may be able to walk you through a solution.
3. "Fix it". From that statement, it seems like you may believe you're addressing eBay or its employees. You are not. These Boards are composed of many, many fellow eBayers, buyers and sellers who volunteer their time here to help others when we can. As mentioned in #2, come back and give us the details of your issue.
4. You don't have to search "reddit or third party forums" for information about eBay. Reading the MBG would be a good start.

@soh.maryl
No, you are NOT. At least please qualify your statement to by mentioning that if you "did not receive it at all, and there is a a record of delivery associated with your order" you will lose any MBG claim. In these instances, there is no MBG claim that will in any way guarantee they are "well protected", and instead it is just the opposite. If there is recorded delivery (albeit FAKE) the buyer cannot rely on being "well protected" by the MBG.
Something else must be done by the buyer in this situation, and you have read about it enough times to know this.

·11 months agoNotice I responded to OP in 4 minutes...guess it was just a rant...and nothing more.
stainlessenginecovers
·11 months agoNot even a rant. Ebay system tells people to 'reach out here' when trying to find customer service.
So, they think they are talking to ebay and don't know it's a forum; therefore never return.
In fact, when going through that rabbit hole of 'help' and 'customer service', it lands on a place that says:
HELP YOURSELF

This was the OP’s first post in the Community. It’s more likely that they couldn’t find their way back to it. @tags help. 🙂
