Issues redeeming a US Gift Card while visiting the United States

"Hello eBay Support Team,

I am writing to request assistance with a gift card redemption issue. I am currently visiting the United States from Mexico, and I purchased an eBay gift card here to use for some orders.

However, when I try to redeem it, I receive an error message stating: 'You can't redeem a gift card for orders in other countries.'

I have already updated my primary shipping address to a US location, but the system still won't allow me to complete the process. Could you please help me verify my account or lift this restriction so I can use the balance I purchased?

When you entered your friend's address did you make it your Primary one? If you did not go to your Account > Addresses and make your friend's address the primary one. If that does not work you may have to give your friend the card and have them make the purchases for you.

Yes I made the us adress the primary one and deleted my adress from mex.

But your country of registry is still Mexico. Click on your feedback number (0) over your original post. If your friend uses ebay then buy the items through their account using the gift card.

Only US residents can use the gift cards and since you're registered in Mexico, you won't be able to use it.

Unfortunately, since your account is registered in Mexico, you will probably not have any way to use the gift card, and you may not be able to register a US eBay account since you’re just visiting. Do you have a friend who would let you place the order through their account? Note that if you do that, once you add the gift card to their account, it is permanently tied to that account, so depending on the amount on the card, it may not be a good solution.
