Is this a lot of 3 listing? Seller insisted that it is not.
Hello Everyone,
In listing 364747130426, I believed I was purchasing 3 lots of 3 items (9 items in total).
However, I only received 3 items, and the seller insists that the listing is not a lot; each item represents a single unit, not a lot of 3.
I’d like to get a second opinion on who is correct.
If it is indeed a lot of 3 per item, would I be able to request a partial refund on shipping as well, in addition to the 2 lots (6 items) that I did not receive?

I asked about the quantity number because sometimes people forget to select one. Also on a few occasions in the past when I've opened a Sponsored link on a listing page, after selecting a quantity the quantity returned to [ 1 ]

Your path is pretty clear, file a dispute for Not as described, Reason: Missing parts or pieces. Your seller will have the option to either accept a return paying the return shipping cost, and issue a full refund or issuing a partial refund for the 6 missing items and the cost to ship them.
Your seller is not an experienced one and they may have set up the listing incorrectly. They only have feedback for 3 sales none of which were for multiple quantities available.

There is no such thing as Free Shipping! The cost is usually added into an item's price. Unfortunately, in the U.S. many of the sellers offering Free Shipping on new/common items are actually China based and ship from Chinese owned warehouses in the U.S. They have them in Canada as well, Though given the tariff wars many of the items are shipping from China due to the warehouses running out of pre-tariff stock. They can do that because their Govt. subsidizes international shipping and because of the Universal Postal Union ( a U.N. organization) rating China's economy as being the same as Botswana's and get a very low shipping rate once an item reaches a domestic shipper in this country.

Yes, I did select a quantity of 3 and reflected in the order page and price (did a best offer of 17CAD X 3).
Domestic shipping is pretty sad in Canada. I'm always impressed that many USA ebay seller can do Free Shipping.

I had to login to ebay's Canadian site to find the listing which has now ended but it does state:
"However, I only received 3 items, and the seller insists that the listing is not a lot; each item represents a single unit, not a lot of 3"
Did you fill in a quantity of three when you made the purchase, or just leave it at [ 1 ] in the box. If you did not change the quantity from 1 to 3 then you received the correct number of items.
Depending on your location in Canada the shipping cost will vary. I entered the postal code for Windsor, Ontario and the shipping from the seller's location in B.C. to there for 1 lot, was C $30.47 Your shipping cost may have been a little more or less depending on your postal code.

I agree with opening a return request (Reason: 'Missing parts or pieces') ... with the intention of returning everything you received ... for a full refund. The seller will be required to pay the return shipping.
BTW, the seller has a similar 'item' for sale (#366018926162) that is equally confusing ... to both the reader AND the seller.
The Gallery photo shows FOUR transformers ... and each succeeding photo shows a different number of the item. The Quantity says 1. Next to Quantity, it says More than 10 lots available (5 items per lot). 😖

·4 months agoIf this were my purchase, I'd open a NAD claim for "missing pieces" and return the whole shebang. Let the seller pay return shipping, get back what you received and hopefully relist it correctly.
Perhaps the financial loss will help with the lesson.
This can't be the only seller with what you want!
And although I'm not one to frivolously ding sellers' feedback, I think I might leave a comment referring to not receiving the item(s) as advertised and the although it's the seller's error, the seller didn't handle to issue appropriately.

I'm going to file an INAD return.
I gave the seller a final heads-up that if eBay rules in my favor, he’ll lose the original shipping cost and the eBay fees, plus he'll be on the hook for the return shipping label. That will cost him much more than simply a partial refund for the missing 2/3 lot.
I do feel kind of bad now that he showed me the recommended partial refund equals his entire net sale... And yet he wants me to file a dispute with eBay... what an expensive lesson.

You're putting yourself at risk of the seller filing a complaint against you by repeatedly asking for a partial refund. (I'm not questioning that it would be the right thing and the more cost-effective thing for the seller to do but buyers are NOT allowed to ask for partials.) If the seller offers it, that's different and you're allowed to accept it but you (as a buyer) should NEVER request a partial in lieu of a return.

·4 months agoStop feeling bad, you didn't make the mistake and you're not responsible for the seller's error.
AC adapters is what I buy most on ebay, and TBH, even if you actually received 3 adapters per lot, I think the price is high considering they're used and without the power cables.
And for the seller, expecting that price for only one is totally ridiculous.

·4 months agoIf you purchased all three lots then you should have received NINE items. If that wasn't the sellers intention then they shouldn't have listed it that way. If you did not receive all nine then you need to open a NAD.
Bottom line, the seller screwed up. It says plain as day "0 lots available (3 items per lot) - 3 sold", which means their were 9 items sold.

Yeah, I bought all three (3 lots) and felt the price made sense since the plug was cut off, as stated in the description (“No DC plug ends”).
I did contact the seller, and he’s adamant that it’s a single-item listing and suggested I open a case.
His confidence honestly made me question my own reading comprehension, hence this post lol.
At this point, I’m really just looking for a partial refund for the two lots I didn’t receive (around $28 USD), but he refused and recommended me to open a case with eBay.
If my reading comprehension is correct on the lot size, then eBay may rule in my favor, which could end up costing him the refund on original shipping, the return shipping and fees.
Still, he’s firm that he can’t offer a partial refund.

The seller is never going to be required to provide a partial refund, but you can open a return request for “Missing Parts or Pieces”, and because of the format of the listing, you should be able to select that you want to return 2 of the 3 sets you should have received. No, you don’t have anything to actually return, but that’s still the process. The seller will not be able to refuse (unless it’s been over 30 days from delivery), and if they’re smart they won’t pay for a shipping label to send nothing back to them. But if they fight it, send them back the missing parts and pieces… as in, put the shipping label on an empty package (this is assuming you are able to only request a return for the two missing lots of 3, I’m not recommending that you say you want to return the whole order but not send anything back).

Well, then your option is clear. Open a return under item not as described, because from what I saw, its NOT listed correctly. They used lots, instead of quantity. And being their account is new, apparently they think they are correct. But they aren't. Good luck!

Has also laid out a path that may work as well. But knowing there are no returns offered on the item, I think just setting up the whole thing for a return might be better. Not sure if there is an avenue for the seller to deny a 2 out of 3 lot return. I don't deal with lots very often, buying or selling, so might not have the best answer here.

If the seller is refusing to refund the other 2 lots, go ahead and open the "Item not as described" return request and stop messaging the seller.

·4 months agoI agree, I would never recommend someone lie to open a return case, but if it’s just a question of interpretation or a confusing listing, eBay will never insist that the buyer prove that they should be able to send the item back. Every seller here should be able to attest to that. @realgmaster I would go ahead and file the return request right away.

·4 months agoWhat a confusing listing! It shows 4 in the pictures but has "lot of 3."
For $20, you should have received 3 items.
ETA: This is the seller's error and if they were to do the right thing, it would be to sell 3/$20 and don't make the same mistake (if it was a mistake) again.
As newbies (and even as oldies), most of us made mistakes but we learn from them.

·4 months agoNo need for other's opinions, if you feel it isnt what was described return it as an INAD. And no, you dont ask for a partial refund, you initiate a return, if the seller wants to offer you a deal instead of a return they can

There is nothing wrong with asking for an opinion. You provided yours, same as we have provided ours. Not sure why you would say something like that.
As for a return, you would have to open a return under item not as described (not matching description or photos), since they have no returns offered on this item.

·4 months agoI just trying to reinforce that the OP opinion is the one that matters. If they believe it is not as described then they are perfectly within their rights to return. The last thing we want to do is persuade them not to return if we feel it is as described.

Of course not. I'm just looking at the possibilities, and if its sent to the buyer whom is from the same country at least, which option might be best. If the seller simply made a mistake, the least they could do is offer some sort of compensation for the confusion. Since they don't offer a return on the listing. If they are unwilling to do that, then simply open the return for the item under not matching photos or description and the seller has to have the item returned or eBay can refund the buyer if the seller doesn't provide a shipping label and return it.

It looks like they had it listed as 3 lots of 3 adapters per lot, as I read it there. The pictures of course show four, which is.. . whatever.
Did you buy 1 lot, or 3 lots? If you bought 1 lot and got 3, then you are fine. If you bought 3 lots and only got three, then the seller screwed up and didn't list it correctly, which could have just been an honest mistake, however its a likely possibility. Another thing to consider is the pricing. Was the price in line with these adapters if you were buying only one? (at 20 each) or are these adapters worth 20 for 3? At roughly 6.50 an adapter, that might be too cheap to be true. If so, pricing can help pin down where they might have gone wrong. They probably were trying to do a quantity listing, not a lot listing and they haven't sold much since they started, so this is likely a mistake.
I also see they are located in Canada.
Have you contacted them about it yet?

·4 months agoThat listing appears to be titled “RDL PS-24V3 Power supply” and the photo shows 4 power supplies, which isn’t the best choice by the seller, but I see nothing that would indicate it was for a lot of 3, or more than one. Is that the right listing?
