Is Ebay shooting itself on the foot or do they make more money selling personal data?
I thint I raised this question many times already but everyone seems to just shrug it off or not care. I have specifically selected "do not share my personal information" in the privacy settings and yet I mysteriously keep getting suggestions on Temu and Aliexpress related to my ebay watched items (I purposely added random items) tried on separate browsers and even devices. I don't know if sellers are misusing that data or ebay is just ignoring its users privacy choices but that coupled with the fact that ebay is just becoming another portal for Amazon with the amount of resellers from them which seems to sell the exact same items, makes me wonder why buying on ebay at all?

OP8 months agoThat's it I'm done. I just received an item bought on ebay and shipped from Amazon. It's the last "new" item I purchase here.

·8 months agoProbably the correct decision. Nobody wants to overpay because they do not know what an item should cost.
There are many Ebay sellers, domestically and offshore, who mark up Amazon listings by 20% or more and violate Amazon and Ebay policy by ordering from Amazon sellers using a Prime membership.
When it arrives in Amazon packaging, it was ordered by another retail Amazon buyer. If it arrives in a day or two, it was ordered by another Amazon buyer. Don't believe any stories about Amazon fulfilling for your Ebay seller with merchandise they own, unless it arrives in plain packaging and takes longer.

·8 months agoTry it on your smartphone with DuckDuckGo, blocking tracking by your apps.
You will get a feel for how many tracking cookies are being blocked. It is a large number if you visit any major sites. Not only are the sites tracking you, many of the advertisers on those sites are tracking you.

·8 months agoBeing serious: Did you know your Cell Phone is listening to your conversations and whatever you discuss winds up as ads on your computer?
I've experience it many times; me and the wife are talking about something and next day I have ads around my computer, on my opening browser (Yahoo, MSN) of things I've NEVER searched for or looked at on my computer.

·8 months agoAll businesses sell info. It's worth a lot of money. I once purchased a tube of A&D cream for chapped hands. Soon I was getting direct mail for the new baby in the house. Yes, the all seeing eye is watching us........

·8 months agoThis has nothing to do with eBay selling your data.
This has to do with your browser settings and trackers Temu and Aliexpress put on your devices to comb your web activity.
