Is eBay really safe any more
I have been on eBay 23 years. It has now become the Craigslist of online auctions. You now have to spend endless time checking out sellers. In my experience they now can manipulate their location, manipulate their feedback, and don't have to account for anything to eBay.
This past year I bought a few items I never received only to have to open a case with PayPal and wait up to 60 days to get my money back. I have learned what to look for. Multiple low dollar amount raving reviews that all say the same thing in their feedback, location in the midwest because that sounds safe, and no response to any messages.
In the last instance I contacted eBay in a chat regarding one of these listings before I bought. The chat person said she checked and all their feedback was legit. She also verified their location and good standing with eBay. So I bought. And... another 45 day battle to get my money back. No response to messages, same **bleep** feedback, another fraud.
What I learned is eBay is disintegrating into an abyss of fraud and fee gouging. I used to feel like they had my back now it's more like stabbing me in the back. Have sold tons of stuff on eBay for years with 100% consistent feedback. I haven't sold anything since they changed their structure for payment.
Like most things they get paid on the transaction and they don't care how items China listed in Ohio get sold under false pretenses, it's all about the volume. I suggest you contact every seller like I do before I buy. If they respond with a computer translation like "Item make you feel great joy, no aggravation will you you experience" ..... don't buy it.

·2 years agoWhat are you buying exactly that seems to have all these issues? I've been buying on Ebay for a long, long time and I think that's only happened to me once where it didn't get the item I paid for. And that was bc UPS screwed up and delivered to the wrong house. Any chance you have an address that's very close to someone else's? For example, I live on a street called Wildwood Acres, but there's another road less than a mile from my house called Wood street or something like that (what morons would name roads that similar and that close together on the map?) Only in the south of the US does that dumb crap happen.
