is anyone purchasing an item? and seller posts item as shipped but no tracking details?
is anyone purchasing an item? and seller posts item as shipped but no tracking details? and item never arrives. are scammers stealing personal information? because next thing you know, seller has no longer item for sale or no longer a member. how are they getting away with this scam. and why is ebay allowing it. i have talked with many people who are **bleep** off for the same reason. i believe it is hurting good honest sellers reputations.

·1 year agoIf a new seller goes NARU, then that seller's funds would have been held. If the buyer does not mount a (successful) dispute, then I assume that eBay keeps the money. It's like a mugger got mugged. I'm convinced this is why eBay makes it so difficult for a buyer to fight the fake tracking number scam. All eBay has to do is contact the carrier with your address and tracking and the carrier will gladly confirm the mismatch. There are no 'privacy' issues. The carrier does not confirm identity. If the fake package was not sent to me, then I'm technically a 3rd-party as well. I recently reported a scammer and he quickly went NARU. However, eBay still expects me to get a signed letter from UPS to prove fake tracking? Why would an independent UPS Store waste their time? Why risk signing anything?

In this case, likely yes. That is because the seller is already Naru'd, and can't come back with a phony "delivered" scan as in the fake tracking scam scenario.
The MBG is useless for a buyer who files INR, when a tracking number showing something delivered somewhere is employed. Since there is no chance of a tracking number appearing after the fact, eBay should not make the buyer wait until the last estimated delivery date in order to file (but the system might require it anyway).

·2 years agoThank you for your reply. It seems like eBay usually requires that the buyer wait the specified time to open a case. But that rule might be different if the seller is now NARU.

I too have trouble believing that a seller/buyer as experienced as you are does not know the terms and time frames, of the Money Back Guarantee MBG. There are generally 2 reasons why a seller will upload tracking and it does not update. Both of which can be detected by checking a seller's feedback profile page.
A) The seller is located in or drop ships from another country, in which case tracking does not update until it reaches the domestic carrier after clearing customs. You can't take any action until the last estimated delivery date.
B) The seller is new to selling, despite maybe having a fair number of feedback and a 100% rating, and they do not know about the 21-30 day payment hold ebay will place on their first few sales. They create a label intending to ship, but do not get it to the carrier because the payment status on their account shows Pending. This also happens to a member who has not sold anything in over a year.

We of course do not who you have spoken to, but if you want real help or advice from experienced members, the ebay Community is the place to visit. Other online outlets/blogs are often populated by people who either did not read or follow the terms of the MBG. There are situtions that the MBG does cover well, but we can tell you how to deal with them to get resolution.

·2 years agoShort answer is eBay isn't allowing it. That's why "next thing you know seller is no longer a member". They're no longer a member because eBay detected the scam and booted them. With 25+ million sellers and 1.7 billion listings that's never going to be instantaneous. That's why they have a very buyer-centric Money Back Guarantee. I'm kind of amazed that you've been a buyer and seller for 17 years and apparently never heard of it.

Have you checked out eBay’s Money Back Guarantee?
It’s really catching on!
If time has run out for eBay to help you, try going through PayPal or the credit card company/bank to see what they offer.
Don’t hesitate though. These institutions also have time limits.
