INR and estimated delivery date changing
Hello,
I buy and sell golf clubs on eBay for personal use. I recently won an auction for a golf club and, in anticipation, I have questions of going through the "item not received" procedure. The seller hasn't sold anything on his/her eBay account and this is his/hers first sold item on eBay. I will give information on the timeline below.
Sunday Feb 19th: auction won, I paid after winning the auction. Estimated delivery : Friday Feb 24th-Monday Feb 27th; Status: paid/awaiting shipment
Tuesday Feb 21st: Message to seller " Hey mate, just wondering when you were planning on shipping the item."
no response
Thursday Feb 23rd: Message to seller "Hey was just looking for an update. If you are a first time seller, just let me know if you have any questions. I remember selling my irons and how much of a hassle it was just trying to package the clubs the first time."
no response
The estimated delivery date has changed from Feb 24th-Feb 27th to Feb 28th-Mar 4th and the status of the order on my eBay account has been the same since I won the auction and paid. In the event nothing changes (seller doesn't contact me back or seller does not ship item), would I file the INR on the 28th? What does it mean to get eBay involved after 3 days post INR?
My experience selling and buying golf clubs on eBay honestly hasn't been bad. As I mentioned above in my message to the seller, selling my first clubs was an experience... so I am giving the seller the benefit of the doubt until it is time to file the INR. This is just the first time I am experiencing lack of communication and would like to know the process before I actually do it. Thank you for your time and knowledge.

·3 years agoFebruary doesn't have a 29th this year. 🙂 If your original last estimated delivery date was 2/27, try opening the case on 2/28. If eBay won't let you open it then you may have to wait until 3/5. But realize that estimated delivery dates aren't set by the seller, they're set by eBay, based on the seller's handling time and method of shipping. Very occasionally there may be something after the sale that causes eBay to revise them. But again, the seller's not changing it, eBay is.
To find a seller's handling time look on the Shipping, returns & payments tab on the listing. There's a separate area for handling time.

·3 years agoIn the listing where you made your purchase, you saw an estimated delivery date of 02/24-02/27. That is the OFFICIAL estimated delivery date and is the date to use to determine whether or not a purchase is, in fact, late. Yours isn't. You cannot open an INR case until at least 02/25/23.
And it would be a good idea to stop communicating with the buyer. So far, if he's new, he's probably wondering what he's done wrong. And the answer to that is "nothing". There is no eBay requirement that he communicate with the buyer.

·3 years agoYou actually can't open a case before 2/28, not 2/25. You can open a case one day after the last estimated delivery date, not the first.
And apologies, I told you 3/1 to open the case in my first post. I misread your last estimated delivery date.

·3 years agoWhen you're looking at estimated delivery dates are you looking at the item in your purchase history or a live listing? Your purchase history will show the estimated delivery dates that apply to your specific purchase. A live listing will show the dates as they would be if you purchased today. From your description of the dates changing it sounds like you're looking at a live listing.
If your purchase history shows that the last estimated delivery date is 2/28 you can open a case with eBay on 3/1. Go to the item in your purchase history and select 'I didn't receive it' under More options.
On an unrelated note, your communications with the seller seem a bit impatient. Bugging them about shipping on the second business day after your purchase is unnecessary. Did you even bother to check their stated handling time before the barrage of messages?

OP3 years agoIn regards to the estimated delivery, I'm just confused. I have an email confirmation for the order, after I paid, stating the estimated delivery would be 02/24-02/27 and I distinctively remember the estimated delivery being that in my purchase history. I didn't take a screen shot of anything at the time because... I mean why would I? I checked the status of the order again on the 23rd and saw that the estimated delivery date changed to 02/28-03/04. That is why I made this post.
As I stated above in the original post, the item I bought was the first item the seller has sold. Like me, he has nothing on his profile that talks about anything in regards to selling or handling. Honestly, I don't know where to find the specified handling time. I clicked through: purchase history -> item info -> see original listing-> shipping returns and payments; and there is no information in regards to handling time. For the 8 items I've personally sold, I've just done whatever the default was for handling time, I didn't even know I could adjust that as a seller.
I just saw your other post, so your saying file the INR on the 29th? Thank you for your help btw.
