incorrect listing
I thought eBay had rules for selling that made sure the description was correct. I have just purchased an item and when I looked at the transaction email I discover that NO what I thought I bought was not what I got. So I requested a refund and got it within an hour of the purchase, so alls good??? Contacted the seller about his error and got a story that I was indeed wrong. Chatted to eBay and they gave me a link to report with. BUT no option to report an incorrect listing.
Has it always been this difficult to actually get in contact with eBay and get your point across?? I don't want the seller punished, just fix his listing.
Options?

OP2 years agoI don't know if I can. Let's see. Hard to do and now that I look at it the number that comes up in the search is different than the number that comes up as you buy. That's really weird. Maybe I'm just crazy or it was a computer glitch. As eBay was quick to point out I have been buying and selling for 22 yrs. and this is a first. oh well.

Yes, when a seller posts a listing, eBay expects it to be accurate. But, realistically, how could eBay do this? There is no way for them to come to my house and make sure the widget I am listing is blue, as I state that it is, or that it's a size 14, as my listing states.
That is the reason that eBay offers the Money Back Guarantee for buyers.
Not sure how contacting eBay would help. eBay knows the item was not as described since you opened an item not as described case. My understanding is that there are repercussions when a seller has too many of those.

The Item Not As Described claim is a Report of an incorrect listing.
Now you have both the money and the product, while the seller has neither.
What other punishment did you have in mind?

Actually, eBay states that sellers are totally responsible for the content of their listings ... since eBay has no way of knowing whether or not the listing is accurate. Nor does it know what item the seller will be shipping.
It's difficult understanding your post ... since we have no idea what the difference is between the listing and the transaction email you received. Is there any reason why you aren't telling us?

·2 years agoYou reported it when you filed an INAD.
Ebay keeps track of those and will deal with the seller if needed.

·2 years agoEbay cannot
force the seller to fix his listing. If he receives too many inad cases, he will be suspended from selling. And you can always click on the listing and report it, for whatever good that does.
