Import fees
If I purchase something overseas and it says import fees may apply or will apply? Will I be charged by usps when package arrives? Not sure how it works but it says free shipping and it doesn't add any additional charges at checkout.

·10 months agoWhile that is true, a lot of international sellers have switched to Duties Delivered Paid shipping services (DDP). It might not show on the listing unless the sale is through eBay Global Shipping. I have had that statement appear on items I have bought recently from sellers in France, Italy, Germany and Poland but all of them actually shipped with a DDP service and I owed nothing at delivery.
It is always best to ask the seller so you know if you will be charged at delivery or upfront when you make the purchase.
Either way the buyer ultimately will end up paying the import charges, either in higher prices for items and shipping, or on the back end when the package arrives DDU and customs/shipping company sends them a bill for the import charges.

·10 months agoYour best bet is to ask the seller in advance of purchase if they are using a Duties Delivered Paid (DDP) or a Duties Delivered Unpaid (DDU) shipping service.

It all depends on the method of shipping your seller is using.
If the import charges are being collected upfront it will state that in the listing just under the shipping details.
If they are not it will probably says this:

·10 months agoEbay won't show you any tariffs or import duties that will be required.
That's up to you to research. Google is your friend here.

·10 months agoYou may have heard in the news that Trump has increased tariffs on goods from most countries and has removed the "de minimis" rule that had let imports valued under $800 be free of tariffs. Now, tariffs (a.k.a. duties_ must be paid by the importer (i.e. you), along with any additional fees that the delivery company and US customs charge. These are all entirely separate from the shipping cost.
