I'm so tired of sellers who cancel after purchase because they supposedly no longer have item
Summary: brandonsvsu expressed frustration with sellers frequently canceling purchases due to unavailable items on an online platform, primarily when buying computer parts. They criticize sellers for poor inventory management and lack of communication. kathiec suggested that dropshipping might be a cause, as sellers often don't know their suppliers' stock status. shire123 added that rare system errors could also cause items to be mistakenly relisted. brandonsvsu described dealing with dishonest and lazy sellers as increasingly troublesome.
I've been buying and selling on this platform for over 25 years, and this particular problem has never been this bad before. I buy computer parts for my shop, and it is becoming almost a weekly occurrence now where I log in only to see a purchase has been cancelled because the seller doesn't have the item. I mean sure, I could leave negative feedback and go through the whole reporting process, but I just don't have time for that.
If you don't have an item to sell, DON'T LIST IT. Why is this so difficult? And if you're selling between multiple platforms, then as far as I'm concerned that's your problem as a seller to figure out how to manage your inventory and listings, not mine as a buyer. And its apparently one ebay doesn't much care about either.
And of course a seller NEVER, EVER actually tells me why they don't have the item. EVER. They just go silent. I get it, things happen. I've been selling custom-built computers and once in a great while I don't have a part to complete the build that I thought I had. But when that happens, I communicate with my buyer and let them know exactly what happened and give them multiple options.
Between the dishonest sellers, the LAZY sellers (how hard is it really to write up an item description instead of letting AI write up its usual gibberish? ), and all the stuff listed as "new" that I get that is clearly used and have to deal with that, well.....I've just about had it as a buyer on this platform. Sure, the majority of purchases are fine without issue, but that ever-growing minority is really starting to get on my nerves.

·3 weeks agoThere is also one other reason (although rare) that may result in out of stock cancelations (and not related to your experience). It happened to me once in the past year. Almost all of my listings are one of a kind. I had an item that sold and then about 6 months later I got another sale for the same item. Somehow that one item got relisted without me knowing.
Others on occasion report the same issue.

·3 weeks agoI don't know if this applies with the items you're purchasing, but a large part of the increase in this issue is the growing number of sellers who are dropshipping. They have no idea if their supplier has the item in stock until they submit the order.
