Hmm, I would rather see a few good looking men in at the beach and they ask me which one is blond.

Security checks, annoying but unfortunately very necessary.   Hang in there. Maybe Ebay will come up with something and folks like you and I can decide which security pictures we get to see.  Ebay can give us a few choices and then when it's time to do the check, our choice will pop up.

That sounds reasonable, to each his own.  Just anything but stupid buildings and cars. If I can't see pretty babes, show me vintage Harley's,  but not fella's.   Personal preference. No offense.

I always get 'Crosswalks'. I could only get that right if they showed the Beatles' Abbey Road album cover. ðŸ˜–

Me too, brother.  And another constant annoyance is asking for your telephone number, BUT only accepting your MOBILE phone number, not your home's land-line.  I don't have a $2,000 I-Phone, or any cell phone anymore.  I'm 71 yrs old, and I'm always at home, especially these crazy COVID days.  I don't walk around with a phone in my hands, like some teenager.  I have more important things to do.  Facebook, tweeting, who cares!  Not me.

Have you changed anything about your setup lately? New browser, or new privacy settings or software? Using a VPN or hotspot? That can cause repeated verification requests when signing in.

Try another browser altogether or a private or incognito browser window.

Preferably the latest version of a browser you have not used before, with default settings and no add-ons installed.

Repeated Captcha requests when simply browsing might be a sign that your browser has a corrupt or blocked eBay cookie; in that case, manually deleting just your eBay cookies might help.

You're probably right.  I need to refresh/re-install Windows and do some maintenance.  And re-adjust my pop-up blocker.  I haven't changed any settings, or played with the registry, so I hadn't considered that sort  of problem.  I really need to just buy a new Apple machine, and kick Billy Gates old patched up piece of junk OS (ALL WINDOWS) to the curb, where it belongs.  He's made the last dollar of my money, I'm disgusted, and too old to constantly fix his old junk OS.

I'm on my home office computer, and not a mobile device or phone.  So there's NO REASON, they can't see my IP address, know my location where I've been for 40 yrs, and realize I'M ...ME.  I'm not using a VPN or a some fancy Stargate-Cloaking device for Pete's sake.  And their network should SEE that IP and know it's ME.  I'm just dumbfounded!  And tired.

It should, unless you have erased your eBay cookies since the last time you signed in. eBay is not checking a master database of everyone's IP address, eBay is checking the cookie that was stored by eBay on your machine in your browser's profile. If that cookie is missing, you get to go through verification again to sign in and get a new cookie.

I haven't manually deleated any cookies, or changed my Opera browser's settings, and my machine stays on 24/7 so WIN-10 can update and do it's thing.  I am running a pop-up blocker, but it's instructed to let eBay in with all it's usual bloat and riff-raff (as I call it).  I hate being marketed to by every advertiser they sell space. That being said, I really find it annoying after buying a T-shirt, or toilet paper, to see peripheral ads all around the product or page I'm presently navigating or buying, trying to sell me more T-shirts and toilet paper.  There ought to be a simple cookie to identify me, without my entire buying history splatered all over the page.  It's like a Jamiacan street market, and they know you're a dumb tourist.  :>(   Buy this!!  No, buy this!!! No, me cheaper!!!  Annoying.

Do you close your browser? If you do, there is a chance that your settings in your browser are set to delete cookies when you close the browser. When your machine updates it also closes your browser to restart your machine. Thus deleting eBays cookie.

I thought about that, but little Billy Gates has to come aboard your machine, whenever he "feels" like it, or another hunk of his patched up junk operating system becomes open to attack, and if his "bandaid" isn't applied, some  KGB Natasha has your financial data to sell in Moscow for a few measly rubles.  My browser isn't set to auto delete on closure, as that surely would slow things down I imagine.  But cousin Billy G, is in all our machines almost daily now, from what I understand.

I just need to wipe my C-drive with my REDKEY, and do a complete fresh install of WIN 10, with all the updates pre-installed.  That's a pain in the butt, but I'm thinking at this point, it's the only (best) solution. Thanks for the suggestions.

One day soon I'll go "Mac" and never look back!   :>)   I hope.

Did you try another browser to see if you get the same challenges?

If your eBay cookie is corrupt or blocked in Opera, that can cause verification issues. In that situation, manually deleting just your eBay cookies once may help.

That being said, I really find it annoying after buying a T-shirt, or toilet paper, to see peripheral ads all around the product or page I'm presently navigating or buying, trying to sell me more T-shirts and toilet paper.

You may want to consider installing an ad blocker to block those ads.

I have a pop-up blocker running (allegedly) but isn't that the same as an ad blocker?  Mines turned on.  Maybe THAT is what eBay is trying to get me to turn off with the constant ID challenges.  This weekend I'll wipe my drive, reinstall WIN 10, and keep my fingers crossed.  I need to buy an Apple, I'm just a penny pincher, and Window's Dog, running 10 yr old re-furbed eBay bought desktops.  When they get too screwy, I just toss em' and spend another $150-$200 on an eBay refurb.  Saves me money over tech work beyond my skills.

Not all ads are pop-ups, some are banners or other types that load on the same page you are looking at. Pop-up blockers only block pop-ups that open in new windows, whether they are ads or not. Ad blockers target ads wherever they may be, if set up correctly.

Before you try reinstalling windows, you may want to try a few simpler things like using a different browser and seeing if that makes any difference.

You may find that reinstalling windows initially seems to solve the problem, but as you gradually change your setup to customize things to make it more like the way you have it set up now you may inadvertently cause the same issue to recur.

Things like blocking third party cookies or using certain privacy settings can cause problems with verification.

Why does Ebay force me to answer login security challenges all the time? I am getting tired of this stupid procedure. I stopped selling items over a year ago because of poor customer service. Now I am going to stop buying as well. Ebay is becoming more trouble that it is worth.

My bank doesn't challenge me on login. My investment firm doesn't challenge me. My Doctors, insurance companies, Etsy or Amazon do not challenge. Why does Ebay have such an annoying security system?
