I'm sad to see E-bay allowing the sale of these counterfeit coins by foreign sellers.
I feel this does harm to the hobby and at the very least listings should be required to state that the item is not genuine

·8 months agoeBay has no way to evaluate anything sold here in terms of genuine vs counterfeit.
eBay does not allow the sale of anything counterfeit.
All buyers of anything on eBay need to be equipped with the knowledge of how to detect a counterfeit.
If they do not know what they are buying, then at least they have the protection of eBay's Money Back Guarantee if they do receive a counterfeit item.

·8 months agoYou will get sellers who will sell coins which are counterfeit. It is up to you the buyer to know what you are buying and know your rights. If you receive a counterfeit item you have a 30 day moneyback guarantee. So if anything goes wrong such as being counterfeit return it for a full refund. Also know that Ebay is not an expert at knowing what counterfeits are. You can report a listing however if there is no direct evidence of the listing being counterfeit then you as a buyer are on your own.

·8 months agoSince this has been going on for over 20 years; there are also THOUSANDS of USA Sellers dumping their 'oops i shouldn't have bought that 5 years ago...." coins as much as 'foreign' sellers.
Coins should now ONLY be purchased from 'in person coin/gold shops'.

·8 months agoHi @pkcarls282012
Counterfeit items aren’t allowed to be listed on eBay. They also are against the law to sell.
Most sellers list counterfeit items because they either aren’t aware that they’re counterfeit OR because they are trying to get away with fraud.
[Your suggestion reminds me of a huge sign I once saw a vendor had placed next to a counter of inexpensive time pieces: GENUINE FAKE WATCHES! The photograph I took of it still cracks me up.]
