If the seller agrees to your offer price, you must be the first to complete checkout
I've never provided a payment since auto pay started and never saw this pop-up before. When I attempted an offer just now I got this pop-up instead of the auto-pay. It this a new one?
For a single item this is better than auto-pay but it still doesn't help with multiple items for combined shipping.
Two questions:
Is this pop-up only for sellers opted in to auto-pay or is this new for all sellers?
And is this only being shown to buyers that held out and never authorized ebay to make auto-payments?

·2 years agoJust now went to a listing, clicked make offer, the screen popped up as stated/shown by op. Checked "got it" and continued. The next screen was to enter offer amount, which I did. It then went to the "enter payment method" autopay screen that it has been doing for months now. I gracefully exited and left the page as I do NOT participate in making offers when the seller is not opted out of that since ebay started the nonsense months ago. I now only do BIN or respond to seller initiated offers to buyers by accepting, countering, or declining same. I no longer make offers to sellers.

Thanks so much for confirming the "order" in which these screens appear. I always wondered why eBay switched from their original presentation of the "enter payment method" first, so we all could "back out" without having to waste any more time....now there are two pages before the dreaded "form" appears.
That said, what we are trying to figure out is IF a buyer should continue to make an offer, and the seller accepts it, IS IT AUTO-BILLED? or Does it go someplace else where the buyer must manually pay (before someone else buys it) like in other SELLER GENERATED offer scenarios? Combined shipping will still be disallowed due to the nature of IPR transactions, but the buyer won't have to pay at all which debunks the idea this fiasco was intended to cut down on non-payers, not simply to make eBay more money from separate transaction fees.

·2 years agoThe pop-up is just a reminder to buyers. To me that is helpful so buyers understand they need to act (pay for) quickly or the item may be sold to someone else.
I think eBay has made it clear on the direction they are going with all of this. If sellers want more combined shipping, they should consider offering FREE SHIPPING. If sellers do not want to wait for the 96-hour offer period, sellers should implement immediate payments.
IMHO Buyers need to reach out to sellers to establish a relationship, not eBay. I do it all of the time and have built relationships from eBay that have lasted over decades. Now they are residual customers that i directly deal with instead of going through a platform.

"I never continued earlier with making an offer. I just tested it now and the auto-pay window popped up too requesting a payment source. So I guess this applies to all sellers now which makes combined shipping impossible even with sellers that opted out of A/P".
As I wrote earlier, the pop up message is informational. It really isn't needed if a seller has auto pay engaged.
Even before Auto Pay was instituted a seller accepted offer needed to be paid for or the listing remained open for other offers to be made. However, if a seller had been notified by a buyer about them wanting to send offers on multiple items, they could decline other offers until the buyer is done sending offers. Then all of the purchases could be combined. The same was true for multiple auction wins, before auto pay was forced on sellers.
That is the option auto pay has taken away from sellers.

I am not sure that is completely correct. ^^^^^^
In the last seller update, eBay announced that ALL SELLER GENERATED offers would now be "immediate payment required". These are the ones that sellers elect to send, and have no idea who the recipients of these offers might be. A buyer could receive more than one offer from the same seller, but there is no 'accept' button anymore for these. They have to be paid separately, at full shipping cost for each item. No invoicing is allowed. This is also the procedure if the seller sends/or accepts a "counter offer" from a buyer generated offer. The "buyer rules" (auto-pay requirements for providing a payment source upfront for instant billing) DOES NOT AFFECT this procedure. This is eBay's new gig, apart from the "buyer rules" preferences that were the original combined shipping killers. This prevents combined shipping via another aspect of the procedure, not just due to retaining the auto-pay/buyer rules requirement. They remain for sale until somebody pays for them.
With the screen shot provided by @campanaelia it is uncertain to me at this point if the seller to which he/she was going to send a BUYER GENERATED offer retained the "buyer rules" for auto-billing (requiring a payment source in order to proceed) or not.
If the buyer rule was retained by the seller, the screen suggests that auto-billing will not happen in favor of simply having to pay in order to get the product via a BUYER GENERATED OFFER. That suggests to me, that even BUYER GENERATED OFFERS are going to be 'immediate payment" instead of being autobilled. This does nothing to cut down on non-paying buyers, since they don't have to pay anyway, and won't be autobilled. This works perfectly, however, to close up another avenue for providing combined shipping opportunities to both buyers and sellers.
I have thought almost from the beginning, that the whole point of this whole fiasco with auto-pay, and now the IPR for seller generated offers (or counter offers) was to get rid of combined shipping and make eBay more money. It is much better for eBay to get that non-refundable .40 cent fee for ten items, than a mere .40 cents for one combined order. Their "items sold" count will increase as well with individual transactions.

We scared sellers buyers away with B.S policy's which we don't what they are.

·2 years agoI don't know if it would be tied directly to immediate payments or not. I think the pop-up is a good improvement for those who make offers. It may help increase buyers to pay for their items faster.

OP2 years agoI think it takes away the ability to have regular buyers when you have no loyalty to anyone, besides the fact it takes away any possible way to get a combined shipping invoice before paying for multiple items with this. Ebay should be trying to build better relationships with buyers and sellers, this will only divide us more.
And what's ebay doing about all whose non-performing sellers? All I hear is crickets.

That message has nothing to do with Auto Pay. It is an informational message for buyers.
If the seller had auto pay on their items, that message would not have popped up because if the seller accepted an offer it would be immediately paid for. Did you get the standard message saying if the offer is accepted your payment method will be charged, when you sent the offer?
