Idiotic new best offer system is a disaster
Who in their right mind came up with this new best offer system? It is a HUGE step backwards!
1. As a buyer it forces you to go through a multi-step approval process on EVERY stinking offer you make.
2. I assume that it autocharges you the agreed upon amount the instant an offer is accepted, which means there is NO way to combine shipping across multiple offers. That is [CENSORED] STUPID!
Under the previous system I could make any number of offers, and then when done request a combined invoice before payment. Now, conceivably there is no combined shipping on offers unless a seller voluntarily decides to refund after the fact, which many sellers are reluctant to do; eBay used to keep fees on refunds so the seller would effectively be double-dinged.
So unless I contact a seller before making ANY offers and ask whether they will refund after the fact or how they wish to handle things, it's a complete mess. If the seller charges priority mail shipping and I get charged up front that shipping on all individual items and I have to HOPE that the seller refunds after the fact, this kills best offer sales.
At best it slows down the process to a snail's pace.
I spend thousands of dollars on this platform via offers, and under this new system it's coming to a screeching halt.
**bleep**.

·3 years agoI love using the OLD best offer system, because I can then use PayPal's pay in 4 option. I can make a large purchase and pay in 4 payments instead of the entire price all at once like with the new system. The new system only says PayPal and wants to charge the entire amount immediately to my bank account that PayPal is tied to. I have actually saved money from not buying items that I tried to make offers on.. so I guess if ebay doesn't want me spending, I won't. I will just have to order in small quantities.

·3 years agoAs a buyer (only), I just quit making offers entirely the first time pre-payment authorization screen came up. No more offers to anyone.

·3 years agoSorry Dude. If it makes a difference, some of us, me, do provide combined shipping via a partial refund of the shipping paid by the Buyer. That's the only way I ever knew to do it anyway. But yeah, if somebody buys 3 Coins and pays shipping at 1.50 each then I immediately refund 3 bucks.

·3 years agoIt seems you've been making offers to sellers who require you to enter your payment method and when your offer is accepted your payment method is billed. Not all sellers use that option.
Sellers are not obligated to combine your purchases. Best offers do not include shipping.
"eBay used to keep fees on refunds so the seller would effectively be double-dinged."
eBay issues a refunds on seller fees when a seller refunds a buyer, so I don't know where you get your info from

·3 years agoI'm sorry to come in so late on this one, yet here I am... So is what y'all are saying is that in the app where it says, 'require immediate payment', if that box us checked then we are doing this what y'all are talking about? If so, then as long as make sure that's not checked then I am good as a seller, correct? This is on the same part and just below where I pick how long it takes me to ship my items. Or is this somewhere and something else altogether? Thanks.
