I lost 180 euros, binoculars with optical defects
I bought binoculars from this auction.

After receiving the shipment, it turned out that the binoculars were decollimated and had optical defects that made them useless.
The seller refused to refund the money in exchange for returning the defective goods.
PayPal resolved the dispute in favor of the seller and closed it.
eBay closed the return option when I filed a dispute with PayPal.
What should I do? I lost 180 euros, I have no place to appeal.
I paid via PayPal with a bank transfer (no card).
I cannot return the item for a refund, even though the auction states that returns are accepted!

·2 years agoI strongly suspect that the policy concerning opening a case elsewhere is the same on ebay.it as it is on ebay.com. Ebay has that policy to eliminate a buyer possibly getting refunds from two places.
Why did Paypal say they decided the case in the seller's favor? Your only option for a return at this point is to appeal that decision.

OP2 years agoI couldn't find PayPal's reasoning for ruling the dispute in favor of the seller. There's also no way to appeal the decision.

Contact your bank and see if there is anything they can do.

·2 years agoOn which eBay site did you make the purchase @opor60 ? Return policies can vary from site to site. This is the .com forum so any advice you receive here will apply to purchases made on .com.
I'm unclear how you ended up in this situation. Why did you open a PayPal claim when the eBay return request was still open?
Opening the PayPal dispute closed any/all options for resolving this through eBay.
What about repairing the binoculars?

·2 years agoIf you can read Italian then the Italy forum will have advice specific to purchases made on eBay.it, however I expect it's going to be similar to advice you received here. Once you open a dispute with your financial institution it closes out all options resolving this through eBay.
