I have been scammed
I purchased a camera lense from a seller. He created a label and sent a notification that my item was shipped. When contacting the USPS with my tracking number he has on Ebay the post office stated the labe was created but they needed a update from the shipper or the item and they did have it yet. Once I received the actual tracking number I contacted the post office. The post office stated my address was not on the tracking number he provided to Ebay's sight. As of yesterday 6/17/24 a manager called from the Unighted States Postal Service and look up my tracking number and the tracking number she says, not even my name is associated with it. She emailed me a document with a statement. She even told me the item did not extremly under weight the item I bought a camera lense.
I ha e been trying to contact Ebay but every number I call is pushing my contact to automated system.
I told Ebay in advance something seemed wrong when there was no tracking only a label. The shipper refuse to give me the address and make a mockery out of me by sending picture of the item delivered. I requested a refund but Ebay is not being serious about this situation. I have 2 documents from USPS to give them. All they have to do is verify the tracking number is not linked to my address on thier site. He is a scammed and Ebay is allowing this guy to post false information on thier site. The tracking number is false, the delivery to my home is false. He have robbed me of $943. I need Ebay to investigate and refund me the money back guarantee for thier customer me, I was scammed.

When a seller purchases and prints a label through ebay, they automatically mark the item as shipped, whether or not it has been received by the shipping agency, in this case the USPS. On the tracking info ebay provides it says something like Label created (date) USPS Awaiting shipment. There is nothing ebay can do until the last estimated delivery date has passed by one day. Then you can file an item not received dispute. If there is no Delivered scan you will get a refund quickly.

Unfortunately for you, eBay will not accept an email as proof of anything, because emails can be faked. There is no direct to ebay phone number you can call. The ones you might find online are not official ebay numbers. The only way to contact ebay is to use the Contact Us button at the bottom of eBay pages. Then you have to fill in some info and request a call back. Babysitting tracking can make one crazy. eBay is not going to do anything for you until the last estimated delivery date has passed.

First off you need to realize that ebay has no requirement that sellers ship items with tracking. Most sellers do ship with tracking to avoid false item not received (INR) claims. Some sellers have extended handling times and even though they print a label, may not ship until some time later.
There are also times when a package does not get an acceptance scan from a carrier or a P.O. and tracking does not update until a delivered scan is posted.
There can be a couple of legitimate reasons why a label may be purchased but a shipper has not received the item.
1) The seller is located in another country and ships internationally with a domestic shipping agency's partner. You are provided with the domestic agency's tracking but it will not update until the item arrives in the U.S. passes through customs and is handed over to the domestic carrier.
2) You bought from a new or returning seller, who is not aware of the 21-30 day hold ebay places on new or returning (after a year of not selling) seller's first few payments.
On their account your payment status shows Pending, and they will not ship until they see the status change to Completed. Your seller may have a fair number of feedback and even a 100% rating, but all for buying at least in the last year. That is just one reason why you need to check the feedback profile of each seller you intend to buy from before bidding on or buying their item.
3) Because of severe weather the seller may not be able to send, or the carrier may not be able to receive mail.
Once the last estimated delivery date has passed by one day, you can file an INR dispute using the more actions tab on your purchase history, then the seller will have 3 days to prove they shipped, and if that cannot on day 4 you can ask ebay to step in if they have not authorized a refund.
If your tracking updates and you get a Delivered scan, but do not receive anything, then open the link below and save it. Click on the Go to Best Answer button and read the instructions on what to do in that case. Since you have the email from the USPS bring a copy of it with you when you go to the P.O.. It may help a balky clerk to decide it is OK to write a note on USPS stationary.

You didn't mention what payment method you used for your purchase. I would first try contacting eBay at the Facebook link @campanaelia provided.
If that doesn't result in a refund within a few days ... then move on to either PayPal or your credit card company. Each of them appear to be more equipped to deal with this particular problem than eBay currently is.
You've done the difficult part already ... getting the statement from the shipping company. Now you just need to make contact with an agent who is familiar with this scam and is authorized to provide a refund quickly. Good luck!

·2 years agoContact ebay on facebook, they are the most helpful with the fake tracking number scam. Give them the details and provide them with the email you received from USPS. They should be able to help resolve this. Good luck

How can the USPS "know" you are not on the tracking label if they are waiting for it

OP2 years agoThe delivery date was 6/15/24, I was waiting the entire time with my door opened, and all of a sudden I received a notification on my phone of item delivered but there was no carrier out side in sight and she normally parks in front of my home everyday. I saw 2 of my neighbors and they said the mail lady hadn't even run yet at that time. The mail lady delivered in the evening that day around 2 o'clock not the afternoon. Immediately after seeing the message I called the USPS and left a message through the automated system for the supervisor to give me a call back, this was Saturday. She the supervisor called me back and yes she verified a delivery at 12pm with the tracking number I provided to her given to me on Ebay's sight under my name.
The tracking number did not show my address, she said it showed a business in my city, but that's all. I got off the phone with her for an incoming call to speak to another supervisor on my son's phone. The lady told me "due to confidentiality she can't give me the address for me to pick it up, although it is suppose to be my tracking number, her system doesn't match my address. It is not until the USPS Manager following up on my claim, she called me the following day and actually told me the item was delivered to a totally different address, not my address displayed on Ebay and in addition not even my name was on the package. Also she said " if i may ask, what was the item?" she told me the package weighed way to little to be a big camera lens.
I didn't even know anything about tracking scammes, this is néw to me.
