I have been a member since 2007. I am thinking about getting a refund for the first time.
Ok so the problem is, the item has technically "shipped". Estimated delivery is 11/06. But I have a awfully strong feeling its going to never update until the eBay mbg is not a option anymore.
I feel the estimated delivery date will just keep shifting, & eventually get "delivered" but not to me. Seller is from china. Member since February 2023. I2.6k items sold. 96.6% feedback score. I ordered 10/17, tracking was given 10/18, left china 10/23, "arrived at destination hub" 10/24. Hasn't updated since. Speedpak, ups then USPS final mile. Got the additional tracking for them(before it left china), both still say "shipment ready for UPS" & "USPS is waiting for item".
First red flag to me was in the order details for seller info, the name looked way to long, over 38 characters. But found out eBay doesn't have to always show full seller info..ok I let that pass.
Second red flag, Soon as I got the additional tracking for UPS/USPS, checked on it, the weight & dimensions were 0 and no measurements. I thought it was required to even print the label but I guess not always..let that pass too.
Third red flag, the seller has sold 70+ of the item I purchased. So far two have left feedback. Both negative. One stated it's in a state they don't live in(for out for delivery I'm guessing). Second says their tracking showed delivered but it was never. Seller wouldn't respond.
I'm usually the most patient a person could possibly be waiting on packages. But ever since I noticed the seller info seemed off, I been having a bad feeling about this purchase.
What should I do for the first step in maximizing my potential case to get a full refund? The shipping was free, total was $104.85. I paid through PayPal debit card. Would much rather try to get refund through eBay first than wait to long & have to go through PayPal.

·1 year agoIf you do not get what you ordered, but some form of trinket delivered to your address, do not file an 'Item Not Received'. You need to file an 'Item not as described'.
Do it all from the ebay purchase history. No communicating with the seller directly.
They may try to tell you they can only refund if you close the case. DO NOT close the case. You can then ask eBay to step in if they do not send you a return label and eBay will refund you and pull it back from the seller.
They will likely not bother to send a label, they will just move on to the next buyer.

OP1 year agoDid that go to seller or ebay? USPS was showing expected delivery today, it has been on "In transit to next facility" multiple days since leaving the nearest outside my county, never got to my local usps.
Edit: Thank you all @kathiec @wastingtime101 @albertabrightalberta @mudshark61369 ! It was closed in my favor few mins after posting

OP1 year agoUpdate. I might be getting it by tuesday. What usps is showing. I have not done anything yet, tracking has been updating. Since date of my purchase, a now total of 9 new negative feedback has been added to the seller. What I purchased is on the left, what i'll probably receive is on the right. Second buyer that got a keychain instead so far.
It seems like my package may actually be delivered, but looking pretty obvious I won't be getting what I ordered. And seller probably didn't even put a actual return address, most likely won't respond either. Will update by friday even if it hasn't came still

In addition to the other great advice you got re opening a case, I have one more caveat to be aware of once you open the claim.
Chinese sellers are notorious for telling buyers (who open cases) that they cannot issue a refund while the case is open and they tell you to close it after which they "promise" to issue a refund.
But once the case is closed, the seller will be off the hook and you'll never see the refund.

You're overcomplicating things. What is the last estimated delivery date shown in your purchase history? On the day after that date go to the item in your purchase history and select 'I didn't receive it' under More actions to open a case. Four business days later go back to the case and ask eBay to step in to get a full refund.
BTW, 96.6% is a horrible feedback score.

OP1 year ago11/6. I believe it changed once already but that is the current. I just want to make sure I don't make any mistakes going about getting a refund. My biggest worry is the item getting marked delivered but never actually receiving it. I read if the buyer says item not delivered after that occurs, it's a automatic refund refusal from eBay.
Then that situation requires extra steps the buyer has to do I bet. Like calling the shipping companies, be on hold for hours, hoping they figure out & provide proof of delivery to a different address. Which could take weeks before confirming. Then waiting on ebay to respond, which might be a month after. Even after all that, nothing seems guaranteed imo.
I got a habit of thinking ahead with worst case scenarios when in doubt about things.

·1 year agoYou need to look at the estimated delivery window in your email order confirmation for quickest access to accurate info. The date on your purchase history can change based on updates from the carrier.
What's the date range on your email? You can file a non-receipt claim as early as the day after the latest date in the window, for a period of 30 days.
If you end up in a situation where it's delivered to another address, come back here for help before you do anything. In short, you can walk in to your local post office or UPS or wherever, and someone here will advise you of the letter you need to walk out with so you can file a claim with eBay.
No need to go down the rabbit hole right now.

OP1 year ago11/01-11/06 was the original estimated delivery date window in the very first purchase email. So from November 7th through December 7th, I should be able to file a non -receipt claim?
I'm so ignorant with the whole thing lol. I was thinking since it has shipped & has working tracking numbers, ebay would put the claim on hold for so long. Giving the refund after so many days if tracking still doesn't update. Or the nightmare scenario, closing the case because it updated & showed delivered(even if it really wasn't) after claim & waiting so many days.
I thought filing a non -receipt claim was not a valid option if seller has tracking, item shows shipped out of origin, & in us hub. Like they'd see it as the buyer attempting to scam the seller since tracking hasn't shown any issues(DMG pkg, lost in transit etc)

·1 year agoIf there is a recent tracking scan the non-receipt claim can be put on hold to allow more time for delivery.
If there is a delivered scan the non-receipt claim will close in the seller's favor.
If there is no delivery scan and no recent tracking, the claim can be escalated and closed in the buyer's favor.
If there's delivery confirmation but it's to a different address, then you need to get documentation from the carrier to present to eBay CS. If it comes to that let us know and we'll help.
But for now, this is just a regular transaction that hasn't reached the delivery estimate yet.

·1 year ago@blueblade19,
First off you need to read the terms of ebay's Money Back Guarantee (MBG) so you know what its terms and time frames are. You can find a link to the policy by opening the listing you bought from then look under the various icons for the payment methods for Shop with Confidence... then click on the underlined Learn More button.
If you received a USPS tracking number it will not update until the item has reached the U.S. clears customs, and is handed over to the USPS. Since the last estimated delivery date is 11/7 you cannot open an INR dispute until 11/8. Once you do that the dispute will be just above your purchase history on your my ebay summary page. All communications from the seller should appear in it. If the seller responds through regular ebay messages, it will likely be an attempt to scam you.
In the future you need to check each seller's feedback profile page, before buying from one. The seller you are having issues with has a very poor, by ebay standards, feedback percentage. If you go to your profile and click on the seller's feedback number, on the page that opens you can click on the numbers of negative and neutral a seller has received, to read only those comments.
