I guess it’s only a contract for the buyer not the seller
I purchased an item with shipping. The buyer did not understand how to ship the item or the cost. When he realized that the heavy item could not be shipped USPS and that he would need to find another method at greater cost he tried to shift the responsibility on me. I am willing to pay extra to get the item shipped but meanwhile I have paid for the item and apparently the seller states he wants to cancel because there is a problem with my shipping address, not true. I’m stuck in an endless loop eBay support chat with no way to contact a live person. It didn’t use to be like this but eBay has the worst customer service and I guess I can’t buy there anymore. Any advice?

·5 months agoYour only response to the seller is, "thank you, I look forward to receiving the item". When it doesn't arrive after the final estimated delivery date file the INR case to get refunded

The seller reported that the cancellation was due to a bad address to avoid a defect on their account. You can report the seller here. It won't get you your item but it may get the seller the account defect they deserve.

·5 months agoI would not accept a cancelation as a problem with your address unless there really is. What this is, is a seller who is neither competent enough to have prepared properly nor willing to take the ding from ebay for the correct cancellation reason and he wants you to bail him out.
Sellers should sit down and read the rules and do some research before getting into the game. Bad sellers are bad for all of us.

·5 months agoIt's not the buyer's responsibility to know this, it's the seller's.

"he would need to find another method at greater cost he tried to shift the responsibility on me. "
No, the seller isn't allowed to charge any more than the listing stated.
"I am willing to pay extra"
Do NOT pay any extra! The seller is violating policy by asking.
"the seller states he wants to cancel because there is a problem with my shipping address"
The seller is lying about the reason for the cancellation in order to avoid his account being dinged. Report that cancellation notice to ebay.

·5 months agoMy advice is just accept the cancellation, ask the seller for a refund and move on. The seller clearly didn't do there job first by calculating the correct shipping. That is on the seller however if postage becomes due upon delivery you the buyer will be responsible for that. I view this as a mistake on the seller which there was change after the sale was made. As far as Ebay chat and customer service you didn't really need to contact customer service. There was nothing they would've been able to do. Now if they don't cancel and issue a refund do what @ebooksdiva suggested for the refund part.

·5 months agoeBay can’t make the seller sell to you. No more than eBay can make a buyer pay.
Look at the estimated date of delivery in your order details. If the seller doesn’t ship the item you can open an item not received case through the link next to your order. Click the drop down menu marked MORE ACTIONS. Click it to find “I didn’t receive it” follow the prompts. If the seller fails to upload tracking into the case or issue a refund by day 4 you can return to the case to click “Ask eBay to step in” for your refund.
