I DON'T WANT TO BUY e-Commerce SELLERS
I am not a happy buyer after I realize I am buying from an e-Commerce seller. I believe that's what they are called, I could be wrong. But they don't hold the product and it is delivered from Amazon or Walmart. I'm sure there are more. First, as a small time seller myself, my go-to is eBay! I want to support other seller's like me, NOT Amazon. I'm a mom and pop shopper and I feel duped. When I look at where my seller is from and see it's even locally to me, I select them. I look at the feedback quick and other quick basic things you would and check the seller is a good choice. After I see an odd tracking number which is provided, in this case it's Coretrails. The tracking has letters and number. This was shipping 2 days, which made me jump on my local seller, because I'd get it extra quick. I looked up Coretrails and they deal international shipping. The seller when I look at the seller user name and about is from Israel. So now I have no idea if I will get this quick or not.
I thought eBay didn't allow these type of sellers. I guess that changed. But I'd love to see them have the type of seller in the description somewhere. Meaning who and where your buying from, when e-commerce. Let it state, your product will ship from Amazon as well. I don't like Amazon for many reasons, not just they are huge. But they also don't treat their employees well. Also the tracking number will change most likely to a fake tracking usps number. I've had that, once I received the package 2-3 days before the fake usps posted and the delivered date changed. That's a whole another venting story. I love eBay sellers, just not these. I'm just venting. So there is no, need to negative response me because as a small time honest seller you feel I should know better. I will put my comments in the next survey I get. Vent over.

·7 months agoI have had this happen to me too a few times now. These seller misrepresented where they are located. I have even gotten stuff with new Amazon packaging. I am like you and sell a little on eBay as well, and want to support people like me. I do not support Amazon and do not want to order from them or their sellers. They have terrible business practices. I really feel eBay needs to do more to prevent this. Yesterday I ordered something after realizing they did not accept returns I tried to cancel it. They denied the cancellation then provided a Coretrails tracking number, so I am sure it is coming from somewhere else not Casper, WY. This is my fault, and I get that I always try not to buy from people that don’t accept returns just messed up this time. Honest people would have just cancelled the order that is what I do when people ask. I did call and report it to eBay, so I will have to see what happens.

·5 months agoInteresting, I just had the same experience, I thought I was buying an item coming from Casper WY. Since I got a Coretrails tracking number, I kind of doubt it. Is there any way to know this from the listing? My seller information listed them in Israel which I only found out AFTER the sale.

·7 months agoVet your sellers better. Look at their feedback profiles. Read the comments. It only takes a few seconds to spot red flags like this, once you learn what to look for. This forum is chock full of tips that apply to this situation.
If you spend 1/10 as much effort vetting your sellers as you did writing this post, you'll rarely have this experience again.

·8 months agoI believe drop-shipping from retailers like Amazon is still prohibited on eBay. You should report the seller if the package you received came from Amazon.

·7 months agoI have reported several times to eBay about receiving items from Amazon drop-shipped but they completely ignored all of them they do not care at all.

OP6 months agoThere are so many of them. It doesn't look as if they do monitor these sellers. I just have to look at the seller better. For me, it's the fact of coming from Amazon. I just want nothing to do with Amazon.

·8 months agoSo glad to find your post as the same thing happened to me a could days ago.... Seller based in Israel they supposedly used a Coretrails tracking number and I never got the item I paid for .

·8 months agoWow. The same thing happened to me. Seller located in Israel and provided a coretrails number. Item arrived the next day because amazon, but I had requested a cancellation within 3-5 minutes as I immediately realized it was a dropshipper. He sent an automated message that I again requested a cancellation that was ignored. He sent me some vapid message about making things right and I asked about the cancellation, which was again ignored.
I even called ebay and talked to someone in "utah" who said they had to research it and told me not to hang up. I had it on speaker phone and was waiting about 10 minutes when ebay hung up on me. Yay. I mean with that level of service why not just amazon. At least it to get scr3w3d over it would be cheaper.
At this point I'm not using ebay first, I'll just go to amazon if that's where the stuff is coming from.. and save a couple of bucks and a have a return policy. First it was the chinese sellers you had to avoid with their 2 month delivery dates and now it's dodgeball against drop shippers. Unless you've used a seller before and trust them, just head to the rainforest. If ebay won't root them out then we have to stop patronizing them.

They use Coretrails to convert Amazon tracking numbers to a tracking number Ebay will accept.

I am not tick off at all. I am giving you a suggestion to prevent your situation from happening again. Ebay will do what it wants as far as sellers like this. That's all on Ebay. It's well documented here and just got to review before purchase. As far as negative responses I was pointing out to ignore those responses or not post at all if negative responses bothers you. There is no anger or making you/someone feel upset. That's not my intentions of my comment or advice.

·10 months agoIf the package arrives from Amazon with the Amazon smile logo on the box, the seller is a dropshipper and did not own the item when he listed. He bought it on Amazon for less than you paid him.
Amazon FBA sellers cannot order their own items. The can use Amazon Multichannel Fulfillment to fill orders on other sites, but the packaging will be plain packaging, not the Amazon smile packaging.
Using an Amazon Prime buyer account to ship orders to customers violates Amazon rules. Dropshipping from another retail site violates Ebay rules.
Ebay can only discover this issue after the fact. You can attempt to request a return under the Ebay MBG since you were not the first retail buyer, by some definitions the product was not NEW,
When buying NEW, in production, product you should be researching the costs on multiple sites, that will make it clear when you are dealing with a potential dropshipper. The price will be over 20% more on Ebay than on the site with the inventory.

·10 months agoThere is a shipping company and an eBay seller both using the name you mentioned but it is not clear from your description who you are referring to. That eBay account is indeed from Israel but has shown zero activity since it was created last December.
As for getting packages from Amazon it might be that the eBay seller is using Fulfilled by Amazon service to stock and ship their item to you but they are still an eBay seller and not an Amazon seller. If they bought the item for you from Amazon after you made your purchase from them then that would be different.

Items shipped from Amazon using multi-channel fulfillment are supposed to ship in plain packages, not Amazon packages with gift receipts.

It is against eBay policy to fulfill an eBay order by drop-shipping from a retailer. But that alone does not stop some folks from attempting just that.
By choosing to avoid doing business with drop-shippers generally, you can avoid retail drop-shippers and triangulation scammers specifically.
It may not be possible to always identify in advance those sellers who drop-ship, but it is possible to identify some common characteristics of illicit retail drop-shippers or other under-performing sellers, and thus avoid the worst of them.
Often they can be spotted by a combination of low feedback number, free shipping of heavy items where it would not be profitable to use retail shipping, use of stock photos, high handling time (not necessarily if they are using Amazon or Walmart, though), poor feedback received with complaints of delays and wrong items or out of stock cancellations, very odd item selection and/or quantities like items were chosen at random from a catalog, canned item descriptions scraped from another site that exactly match many other similar listings, differences between registration location on the feedback page and item location (or vague item location -- like "US, United States"), or inability to answer even basic questions about the items being sold.

I'm pretty good at picking up on them, this one had over 1500 or so positive feedbacks and long time years of a member. But like you mention the stock photos was the key. It was only like 10 or 15 bucks and 2 towns over, so I thought, hahaha. I took a chance because it was cheap. Lets see how long after the 2 day shipping it arrives. hahaha Also thanks for your advice.

OP10 months agoThanks for your reply, I appreciate it and you taking the time to do so. I'll have to wait and see if and when it arrives to maybe figure out the fulfilled by Amazon. I know many love Amazon, but I want nothing to do that huge global company. I love my eBay!

·10 months agoI completely understand where you’re coming from — your frustration makes perfect sense. Many buyers prefer to support true independent sellers and small businesses rather than resellers who just drop ship from Amazon, Walmart, or other big retailers. It can feel disappointing when you think you’re buying locally, only to realize later that it’s actually being fulfilled through another large company.
You’re also right that this type of “e-commerce arbitrage†has become more common. Some sellers list items on eBay and, when a sale comes in, they order it from Amazon or another site and have it shipped directly to the buyer. While it’s not technically against eBay’s rules in every case, it often leads to confusion with tracking numbers, delays, or unexpected packaging and that’s frustrating for buyers who just want a straightforward purchase.
Your idea about eBay clearly labeling this kind of seller or indicating when a product ships from Amazon/Walmart is a really good suggestion. Transparency would help buyers make more informed choices and support the kind of sellers they want to.

·10 months agoI know you do this which is why it is very important to do research on the seller before purchasing. Ebay doesn't allow that behavior however it's going to be hard to police for them so it is on you the buyer to ask questions a few all important information before buying.

Please note this is a public forum which consists of your peers who answer questions and give advice. If you have any feeling not wanting negative responses or responses you just don't want to read just either ignore them or try to avoid vent threads all together.

OP10 months agoYes, I agree on looking better. However on a large dollar item I would, on small things 10 or 20 bucks, like this last one, there really wasn't anything that stood out.
However your last comment, is my other point. There's what I call keyboard warriors, I'm not saying you, I don't know you to give an opinion. Texts, posts, emails are not the best way to communicate because people tend to take things more negative then positive, resulting in discussions taken the wrong way at times which can result in negative and nasty reply's. A keyboard warrior IMO just always has to add a negative comment, with showing their terrible communication skills. The community board should be a safe space to avoid being insulted, talked down to or plain sarcasm. Sometimes, some people need to be reminded, so I did it openly. I always welcome advice and come here time to time. I actually even learned a few differences of the type of sellers, from the other posters. I just don't understand what makes you tick to say your comment. Because you read my post and didn't like what I said so you had to put me in my place? Did it make you feel better? I don’t know either you or @bonanza125 … so I believe I read both of your posts with an unbiased eye/ear.
I didn’t hear the ‘misdirected anger or upset’ that you heard in their post. What I heard was a suggestion on how to deal with negativity that inevitably pops up on public boards. I’m sorry that you felt ‘put in your place’.
I hesitated mentioning this … as I was afraid that you would see me as being angry/upset at you, which I definitely am not. I just felt bad that you were upset by a post I didn’t think meant you harm. And I also felt bad that the other poster was criticized for what sounded to me like a benign post.
I hope you don’t feel that I mean you any harm, as I thought you made good points about the difficulty experienced in trying to support small-time sellers. 🙂
