I cannot pick up an item and now I'm having issues with the seller
Summary: patke-4571 is facing issues with a seller after purchasing a football helmet with a mistaken 'pick-up' option instead of delivery. The seller in North Carolina is demanding $350 for shipping despite patke-4571 being in Utah and the item already paid for at $124. Community members suggest contacting eBay support through chat or social media, emphasizing not to share the pick-up code with the seller, and considering opening an 'Item Not Received' case if necessary. Suggestions include charging back through the payment source if the seller doesn't cooperate. Additionally, FedEx services are recommended as a potential solution for shipping.
I'm in southern Utah. The seller is in North Carolina. For some reason it accidentally opted for me to pick up the football helmet I purchased for $124. I cannot drive across the country to do so. While communicating with the seller they're unwilling to cancel the transaction... And have basically said that they would only ship the item if I paid them $350. I'm not willing to do that I have a bunch of terrible messages and screenshots of our conversations on the eBay messages and over text message and I would like to send in to report this seller and just get my money back. That's all. I really want to contact customer service and have them step in and help that I cannot get anyone on a phone service line, it seems like it's impossible

·2 weeks agoFedEx offers a service where you can purchase a prepaid label and arrange for a pickup. If your item is not in a box, they will place it in a protective container before loading it into the vehicle. Make sure to contact FedEx so that you are clear how this is done. I have a local private mailing business near my home that rents private mailboxes and offers shipping services. If you have something like that nearby, they can help you.

·2 weeks ago · Edited@patke-4571 Never fear. You are not hopeless here. The seller has to prove they gave you the item.
Because it is local pick up, eBay emailed you a pick up code and there should be a QR code on the order. The seller needs one of those to prove they gave you the item. Under no circumstances are you to give the seller the pick up code or the QR code! They may piviot and try to get the code from you by telling you they need it to cancel. Do not give it to them. With that code they can prove they gave you the item, then you will have a problem.
Even though you selected local pick-up, there is still a delivery date range in the order. Find the order in your purchases and look for that date range. One day past the last date in the range you can open up an Item Not Received case from the order page. The seller will have no choice but to refund you as they won't be able to prove (without the six digit code or QR code) that they gave you the item. If the seller does not refund you within 3 days of opening the Item Not Received case, you can go back to the case on the 4th day and have eBay step in. If it comes to that, simply explain that you mistakenly ordered the item not realizing it was local pick up, and that you asked the seller to cancel but they refused. Let them know you do not have the item because you cannot drive from Utah to North Carolina to pick up the helmet.

·2 weeks ago · EditedTry contacting eBay first, maybe even contact the CS on instagram. But before going to you bank/CC/payment source let the buyer know it is an easy charge back as you didn't receive anything. That charge back will come with a $20 fee, a charge back ding and possibly they may lose out on FVFs associated with not handling their own business...they might just see the financial benefit of cancelling

·2 weeks agoWhy should the seller deserve a $20 chargeback hit when it was the buyer who was "accidentally" opted into local pickup (meaning the buyer neglected to check the shipping option before checking out)?

·2 weeks agoYou can contact Ebay through chatbox>type in your issue and then ask for an agent. Have an agent call you back. I know that Ebay no longer allows buyers to cancel only sellers. So the listing didn't say pick up only? This seller needs to do the right thing and refund you cause yes you are right that's not going to be possible. Ultimately if you are unable to just cancel then you might have to contact your payment source.
