I bought two mechanical watches on eBay
I recently bought two mechanical watches on eBay. Both were advertised as working, but both stopped after a few hours. I contacted one seller who told me I must have overwound the watch and broken it, then he cancelled my return request. I haven't contacted the other seller yet. Any advice?

·2 years agoFor the other watch, start a return request just like you did for the first, except choose 'item was not as described' as the reason. The seller will be forced to send you a return label and accept the return.

What reason did you choose for filing the return request? If you chose one of the ‘item not as described’ reasons … the seller would NOT have been able to cancel the case.

OP2 years agoThank you for your reply. I originally wrote 'doesn't fit' as the reason for returning, as the watch was very small, only measuring 14cms/5.5" around the wrist, which equates to 'a very slender' size, not suitable for the average woman. I complained to the seller that he should have mentioned the small size because I had noticed that other sellers did this if they had a very small sized wrist watch to sell. Then, when the watch stopped after about four hours and I informed him of that as well, he accused me of breaking it myself. I did not break it, I was careful not to overwind it as i am familiar with the workings of mechanical watches. I wound it carefully again, but it stopped again after about eight hours the second time.

·2 years agoEBay considers 'doesn't fit' a remorse return, which means sellers are allowed to refuse the return. EBay also only gives you one return case per item, so you won't be able to modify the case with an additional reason. Now you'll need to open a case on Paypal, if that's how you paid, or file a dispute with your credit card.

Doesn't Fit is considered a remorse reason for the return and that gave the seller the option to refuse the return.
Had you bought from a seller that had "accepts returns" in the listing, you could have selected that same reason and the seller would have had to accept the return.
Your seller had "seller does not accept returns" in their listing. You would have had to selected a Item Not As Described type of return reason to force them to accept the return.

·2 years agoHow did the seller cancel your Return request? Did you properly cite 'Not as Described' in the claim?
I'd not contact the other seller, either. I'd open a NAD claim on that one, too.
